Congrats! What happened to the Vectra?

Old age happened. Saying that, the Punto is the same age just on a W plate. But it also has near 100k less miles on the clock, Vec was due an MOT and was just going to need too much to put through another test.

I also figured that running FS kinda means I should run a Fiat.

Well chosen! Although will the tiny engine not be a bit of a shock?

Thanks Tony. I don't mind the three door b, would like a Sporting at some point :)

Plans for the near future:

Renew wheel trims (will swap to alloys in spring)
Good wash/polish
Colour code mirrors and door handles
Black vinyl on door posts

Now here's something some of you can maybe advise on. When Mark and I looked at this, and realised it's the lowest spec model available, we believed it possible to add things like central locking relatively easily. Is this indeed the case? I've no electric windows, mirrors or any form of central locking at the mo, something I'd like to look into if possible :)

just swap the internals over from a car that does :) just because that car doesnt have them on board it doesnt mean the facility for them isnt there, thankfully, thats one bonus of mass produced cars, if it's fitted on onen model theres a very good chance it can be retro fitted to another because the fixings will be identical :)

Hmm, my poverty spec one had electric windows and central locking (non-remote) so I'm surprised yours doesn't. But as Mark says, should be easy enough to stick on there and mk2/b's are fairly easy to find at the scrappy as far as I know :)

Well, managed to get a new centre console with electric window switches in Paisley earlier. Downside is, we can't find the wiring/clip to connect electric windows.

**Update**

Just found this guide - looks like a bit more work than first thought.

Still, worst case scenario I'll maybe have a play around with the new console. Prefer the narrower hazzard switch anyway, so maybe spray the lot or something :)

you might need the bit of loom just behind the switches for something to tap into, beyond that its just a case of feeding power to motors, easyest thing would be to just swap doors from a leccy window equiped mk2 5dr if possible then connect wires, if not the regulator can be retro fitted but the loom will be needed if its not pre-included like it is in alot of vx's, bm's etc

Already sounding like more hassle than its worth tbh.

Interestingly, did an oil check in Linwood. Dipstick's given a really bad (dry) reading so have topped up with a litre for now, will get another litre in there before I head home tomorrow. I know the rocker cover is needing changed, but didn't think it was that bad lol

not really, it's just a few wires :)

the capability is there somewhere for it. Fiat wont have pissed money away making totally different looms and electrical systems for each models trim level, the same system will be fitted without the parts connected on the end, switches blanked off etc, just a case of bridging what bits they didnt fit :)

as long as theres oil in the top end ;) the bottoms tough on those engines, not alot to worry about as long as its seen to asap.

Yeh, as I say dipstick had no reading but car was still running ok so will recheck in the morning and fill as required.

Am I right in thinking on moderate usiage it's usually something like a litre of oil per 1000 miles? That being the case I'll have to check this on a nigh weekly basis.
