Another MK2 in the fold

Another MK2 in the fold

Didn't get a chance to do anything to the Punto last week - bar put more rubbish from the Civic in her before the new car arrived.

Tomorrow it should FINALLY get the new sump fitted. Hopefully get her firing over again tomorrow, even though it *may* be a bit loud...

sump nae bother to do just remember give all surfaces good clean before replacing sealer last one i did it the easy way take exhaust of at cylinder head complete with exhaust and dropped the lot didnt take any longer than one and a half hours

ell, she diddnt need a sump.....

numptys were pouring in oil too quick so what they thought was pishing out the sump was actually just running down the outside of the engine:doh:

rear bench and bits stripped out the day tho

The weirdest bit is taking the reading and seeing NO oil on the dipstick. Ho hum!

So yeh, bit of repair/replacement on the downpipe/flexi and she's as good as erm, well. She'll go.

Hey Martyn, you said you sourced some alloys? What ones if I may ask? Hope the ol' gal is running well

Johno's mk1 sporting alloys - all being good I should get them on Sunday :)

Had her running for the first time in ages yesterday. Not sure if Stu disconnected the battery before we gave in for the day, if not then she needs a jump as she's empty on power tonight lol

MASSIVE progress this weekend :)

Lots of people to thank for their help, so I'll try and not miss anyone out.

Harper and I decided to have a wee drive yesterday to make up for the lack of Bo'ness meet. The original (and rather secret plan) was to jump the Punto and take the two cars to Dundee to meet Mark. As it turns out it's a good thing I didn't bother, but more on that in a second. Thanks to Neeny and Venters, as always, for their hospitality and many cups of tea.

After a rake around U Pull It at Inverkeithing with Mark and Harper yesterday, we left empty handed as the staff clearly had been there long enough and wanted home early. Never mind, quick rummage at Persley this morning revealed at LEAST 7 mk2's, a mk1 and a Cinq.

Unlike yesterday I managed to find a decent donor already stacked on its side with several tyres. 10-15 minutes, and a help from Popeye later, and I bagged a pretty new centre section and backbox for a bargain of £15. Result!

Next on the list of things to do today was meet Johno933 to pick up my new Sporting alloys. All was well, except after a drive up Wellington Road that finished off the damage to my front exhaust. When I grounded it a few months back, I must have knocked the flange clean off the downpipe/cat, so just outside Craigs the front of the centre section decides to drop. Oh well, at least it wasnt at 40mph on the dualler!

A quick SOS repair later and off we went to meet Ransoman. He's not been on here in a while, but he's living in a proper house now and says he's getting the Interweb soon. With new exhaust & alloys in situ we decided to get the Punto looking and sounding the part again. We've also begun repairing the rot to the car, but unfortunately she's going to need a bit of welding.

The front exhaust pipe really is a repair to be proud of. Andrew had an exhaust sleeve lying around, but it needed something longer. So a quick look in the recycle bin and she's not sporting a rather exclusive Tennants front pipe :D Class, I tell ya!

Still, happy with the weekends work and I think at the last count we've put in somewhere in the region of 350 miles with meets & site events this weekend. Not bad at all I reckons :)

More rust treatment and a spot of welding are lined up for next weekend :) Oh, and I should have some better pics tomorrow.

you have a tennents sleeve, Rob had an irn bru induction......

i see a theme forming here :D

I'm slightly worried how far/tasteless this could go. Out of sight is fine but if it gets as bad as tartan bonnet bras I'm defecting.

get a 3dr front bumper on that (im pretty sure they fit, the rear certainly doesn't), and it will look damn good

a wee touch lower wouldnt hurt either, big progress though, and progress in the right direction too :D
