I've replaced the rad fan as customer had cable tied the fan on after he broke the fan bracket( cable tied through the fan fins so couldn't turn,) I've replaced the fan,
With MES tried to actuate the fan speed 1 and 2 but both fail to execute. Theres no error code at present but was one fan related, I found the large fuse 30amp blown, replaced AND checked all relays associated (small 30amp and 2 red relays) checked wiring and connection on rear of fuse box. Still no joy, car runs upto and above where rad should kick in so dont want to have an overheat situation..

Any help appreciated

You appear to have checked the likely culprits, but let's start simply.

Does the 'new' fan work if 12v is put direct to it?

Is there current at the fan connector when MES attempts to run it?

I believe there is a resistor somewhere to give the two speeds, is that ok?

Did the fan work prior to it being tied up? You might be trying to sort a problem that was already there.

With the fan 'seized', when current is passed to it, as you have found fuses will blow. But other components may have suffered too, resistor, wiring and connections.

Slow and fast fan is only for cars with air conditioning. Those cars have a large resistor at the top of the fan shroud and have two black relays. These cars have a soldered connection near the resistor which goes to the red? wire of the fan.

Sounds like your car only has one speed fan.

With the relay removed if you bridge the large contacts of the fan relay in the fuse box the fan should run even with the ignition off. One of the large contacts should be live even with the ignition off.

Fan was seized, with cable tie the likely culprit stopping it from spinning.
Fan works with 12v feed direct.as above, mine is NONE aircon so only 1 speed

Bridging the connections on T06 starts the fan spinning.

But still in MES when trying to activate Fan speed 1 it still says FAILED TO ECMXECUTE same for fan speed 2 AND ENGINE TEMP LIGHT

So I know now theres is power to the relay, I e swapped various relays(zRedz) and no joy.

Could it of killed something in ecu to do with rad fan operation....?

I've unplugged temp sensor whilst running , that activates rad fan

I've bridged relay T06 and that activates fan.

I cant activate fan via MES

Fuse F06 was blown

I've swapped out for known good fuse box, both same number A223 . Same symptoms with both.

There is a brake out bulb whilst applying brakes, could it be a bad earth with them??

Seems the only explanation to me...

OK.... so run it upto temp now, and fan comes in and out as expected...

Think I was too hung up on not being able to connect via MES...

Not sure of that reason, but as it's working and keeping optimum temp I'm more than happy.
