Hi, this is my first thread and a little bit of an odd one, I want to fit a turbo but not for power, i know its not worth turbo'ing a 1.2 8v for the costs and effort involved, but what i want it for is different, where i live its mostly country roads, i cant drive fast, and so performance is not what im after, its actualy more for show, i keep my car and under the bonnet clean, and so do my mates, however i want to fake them into thinking its turbo'd, but using a real turbocharger.

My idea was to get hold of a very small turbo something thats not going to produce much boost, or realy do anything, then fit a intercooler again to add the turbo aesthetic look, and to finish it off with a waste gasket or dump valve. So it appears to be producing alot of turbo'd horsepower but its actualy not.

Again i dont care if i lose 5 - 10 hp or even gain 5 - 10 hp

Is this possible or should i just not bother, and insurance is not a problem.

i was just thinking of only adding a second hand realy small turbo and intercooler with piping shouldnt cost more than 200 was gonna leave everything else standard

So you're going to lash this stuff into your engine bay and not connect it? Doesn't matter the size of the turbo, if you are going to connect you're still going to have to do something about the manifold and and the intake/throttle body. That costs money, hence my statement - either do it right or don't do it at all.

You can go twice as fast with these.

IF you are putting a turbo in - surly?
It means your going to have Ends disconnected? As the pipes Pretend to go somewhere?

also can an intercooler be connected to the Intake anyway to make super cold air?
Pass - it'll probably Suck what few ponies the engine has as it has to really suck its air
regardless if its cold or not

Turbo = Heat as well - So if you do mangically get the turbo on - it'll suck air in - heat it up - fire it out into the engine
heat + heat + heat = super hot

and insurance is not a problem.

Wonder what he meant by that, he's not going to inform them? That wont work if you crash then the insurance guy asks why there's a turbocharger on your manifold/why your manifold isn't bent at all but the rest of the engine is.
Or he has enough cash to cover the fake turbo but obviously doesn't want to just buy a faster car?
Bit confused tbh

Have a look at Brin's thread. He actually turbo'd the 1.2 8v.
Well, tried to

Oi mines still a work in progress...even if u put a turn o in u need to make a custom manifold...oil feed and return modification to the sump....if u go that far then for an extra say 300 u could also have the power and a proper working turbo no point pretending that it is

I know iv got an intercooler on mine but like I say im still working on me other engine....

you take, the **** but ive come into cars recently from a bike background, turbo's are something we dont touch, but i realise, now that its not that simple, im really after a realistic turbo noise tho. and fair play for going all the way to turbo'ing a 1.2 8v. Like i said im not after speed just noise, i have the bike for that ;)
