The time has come to change the rear shocks on my 100HP. I've opted for Bilstein purely because I cannot be bothered with the spacers and added hassle of the Koni shocks.

I'm either going to fit the B4s or B6s.

What is the consensus on these? Are the B6 significantly better or will the B4s suffice?

Also, is there any other bits I should replace along with the shocks to improve the ride?

Thanks,
Tom

B6 will be harsher on potholes. Top mount will take more punishment. Less body roll. With low profile tyres on. It's going if to feel quite skippy on some roads.

B4 Same as standard.

Personal choice. I would go for the extra comfort. Race cars aren't nice to drive on most UK roads

Don't understand the comment about Konis - I put adjustable Konis on the back of my 100HP and it didn't need any spacers.

Really? When was this? The majority of the posts I have read on here said the newer Konis aren't designed for the 100HP and you have to you put a spacer in to solve the problem.

Slight of topic.

Reading through a few threads.

Replace band x for brand y and how much better it rides.

Or I could write it as

Replaced tiered worn out shocks for brand new ones and how much better it rides :)

Frightening. He's just used the original bolts in the larger diameter bushes, expecting it to hold. The shock will very soon move up and down on the bolt, eventually leading to something breaking.

If any new shock has a larger diameter hole, it needs a spacer. I seem to remember some of the posts mentioning sources for these.

Agreed

For the sake of hacksawing a piece of tube you might as well do the job properly.

Car was 58-reg and a couple of years old when I changed the shockers - so 2010.

Bear in mind that top spec dampers have closer tolerances than standard shocks so performance falls of sooner. However they should be rebuildable/serviceable for minimal costs.

I'm running B8's on mine and the performance difference is very noticeable. I've heard good things about the B6's, dont know if they're shortened or not. I know the B8's are. I'm running them with supersport lowering springs an the performance is great.
