Hi all,
I`ll be looking at replacing my 2011 Panda Mylife in the next couple of years.
Does anyone know if an electric or (preferably) hybrid Panda will be available then?
If not, is a Twin Air or Fire engine best for short journeys (less than 8 miles but generally 3 miles average).

Will definitely be buying a Panda, it`s the most comfortable car I`ve had :)

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there will be a Panda mHEV available by the end of 2019, or begin 2020.
It wil have a new GSE-Firefly 999cc 3 cylinder engine with ± 70 hp and mHEV (Mild Hybrid)

Oh well, best laid plans and all that …

I got an offer too good to miss on my old Panda for a brand new Panda Lounge. At least the Lounge has the 1.2 Start/Stop engine, so sort of green :)

I`ll still be watching out for the hybrid, might Pex in the future!

Cheers

Really?? Got any links on this as last I checked (about 3 months ago at the geneva motor show) fiat where talking about ‘maybe’ having a replacement for the panda by 2021....

Nothing about “mild” hybrids

Cant see any point in the mild hybrid myself, its the equivalent of sticking a battery from a cordless drill into the circuit simply for the purpose if giving ( if driven appropriately) 1-2 miles per gallon more and lowering the emissions just past an acceptable level, there is no meaningful progress to be seen here.

I'd like to think my current Panda will serve me with a small petrol engine until Fiat releases a next generation Panda / successor for the Panda with a fully electric or at least hybrid product.

It's one of those things that they won't be able to exist without catching up on / delivering on.

Hopefully they'll make a success of it and follow through with the best-in-class hit that was the '03 Panda and the '07 500 that people will take to in big numbers. But maybe they'll find it in their hearts to maybe refresh them a bit sooner lol

Only Italian article’s.
Use Google and you will find enough.

“Panda mHEV”
“Panda Mild Hybrid”

First article I find “as evidenced by rumors in circulation” well that clears that up...

Also the fact that there are zero English articles from English motoring sites, suggests that this isn’t coming to England.

I think it's quite obvious that the 1.2 FIRE is going to be made extinct due to tightening EU legislation very soon..... And the 0.9 TwinAir (and any manufacturers tiny-turbo-less-cylinders alternative) aren't all they were promised to be in the eyes of buyers...

And we DO know for a fact the Firefly engines are Fiat's latest project in the realm of powertrains currently...

So it's not too mad to assume they'll be coming to the next 500 / Panda. We just don't know the exact specs.

With Fiat announcing that the Panda / 500 are its future focus and how electric / hybrid is becoming increasingly popular at a rate faster than before, who knows what will happen.

Reports in this months Auto Italia announcing fully electric 500 to be launched at Geneva March 2020 with full production of an estimated 80,000 units pa thereafter. Preproduction model due the end of this year. Presumably Panda will follow suit in some guise or other. Quite looking forward to a Scalextric Abarth model down the line!
