The Red Giant Panda Cross is Born.
Thanks to all the fiat workers in Naples and the robots involved in building my new Fiat.
Get it on the truck to Scotland asap, if you dont mind. Tell the transporter driver not to drive behind any road gritters coz my red paint might chip.
Counting the days....

Jealous much(y) Looking forward to your ownership reports:cool:

Aye, the report in 3years and 2 weeks time, me greetin' my eyes out about:cry: how the warranty is over and I've got my first bit of fakey paint.
If it comes before Xmas, I'm thinking about having Christmas dinner on the fold down table?

I really do think that the turn around time for the cross is only 8weeks. Fresh car, less queues. So get in pronto coz it can only increase to nearer 12weeks.
Order date 27th Oct. Built 19th Nov. Can't take that long to get it here, can it?
Drive safe Mr Transporter dude.

I would order a cross if it were in orange, after-all those seats certainly look made to match with orange body colour.

We did buy the Antarctica and certainly wonder why on earth they wouldn't have included a 'winter' pack on something with that name. TBH I wanted white but don't like the white cross with all that plastic.... I think white is easier to maintain over the long-term compared to metallics.

Limited editions (unique models) should hold a reasonable value too that was another thing that was in it's favour so a LE Cross would be great.... I wonder, have they ever offered a LE Cross in the past??

Do you really think by you buying a Panda Antarctica that you have bought a unique model that will hold its value over a spec'd up 4x4? Come on... It was truely a forced limited edition so that fiat could stop production at the factory and work on the euro6 engines.
Its a 4x4 that the buyer wasn't allowed to pick any of the options they actually fancied.
If anything, they have out sold, in UK, any other one particular colour of the 4x4.
Jeez, I hope you don't get stuck with one with the plastic wheel.
The black roof was a nice limited edition touch but everything else is buyable so nothing unique there then.
At least you have the unique selling point that you don't have the common as muck heated windscreen and heated seats. The true freezing cold penguins actually sit inside the car.
To make things sweeter for me, the more people that don't buy red paint, due to your top notch advice, the more unique my red panda cross remains.
Unique: 1. existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics. 2. having no like or equal. 3. A flakey red panda cross. 4. Not a Panda Antarctica.

I thought this might help extinguish ur negativity towards other peoples choices of car, model, colours and options. Especially during the exciting period of ordering & waiting on their car. Next you'll be telling kids that santas sleigh has fading red, pink paint, And Rudolph once had a bright red nose but its all gone flakey & dull. And that Mrs Claus has a Venetian Blue rinse hair-do.

Due to the red paint issues, I'm considering getting a special unique, yes a one of, paint job done on the car. A sparkling deep orange. Surely that will hold its value being a sole example and I can then sell it on to you at top dollar. I'll even let you pick an option, do you want a chocolate orange roof to match the doors or bronze to match the dash?

Anyhoo... Take it easy my friend but always remember to take it
especially when you give it so well.

We all know that the beige has proven to be less popular that other 4x4 panda colours but does it get an option that no other panda gets? No one will ever know!
Has anyone actually bought a beige panda?

LOL

Hold on whilst I wind the line in a bit more... then you can go again.

;-)

I knew you'd have a wee nibble but you only bit back with the old twist it back on to me.
I have played with ur type a few times, even ur type isn't unique.

Remember, in my past posts, I say only positive things about the Antarctica, and will always say good things about it. Only slammed it to shut u up, but will you? Nibble nibble, take a bite penguin...

Initially I only offered a little advice about UV protection polish... but you got very sensitive very quickly; I guarantee that if you coat that lovely new red car of yours with Zaino product you will have the best looking Panda around (unless our Antarctica pays you a visit of course).

I'm kind of hoping it arrives with stone chips and I can reject it.
I already know about the fiat lacquer issue as the blue £300 punto hgt I picked up has it flaking off above the rear side window. Is like a blue powder underneath. Horrible.

So the advice on keeping fiat paintwork / lacquer in A1 condition are these products?
I will read this weekend and get some ready for the car arriving.

NOOOOO please tell me your joking. I was told that colour was 100% natural.

We went along to Döbbies on Sunday for a bit of breakfast and as we arrived we struggled to get in to the car park due to Santa arriving. Once inside and fed, we spotted santa, Mrs Claus and the female elves walking around. Well I must say I was a little let down. I thought here we go, mrs claus(no blue rinse) and the elves are looking nice & Christmas isn't just for the kids, the dads might get a wee smile from & get to see a bit of leg on Mrs Claus or at least the elves. But no, they were wearing PC trousers that wouldn't fit Santa. You work hard all year, is Mrs Claus wearing fishnets, as a treat for all the (dirty)older boys/dads, to much to ask for? OK, just a little thigh then?
Anyhoo... Breakfast was sexier

Its only my personal choice and I am sure not a miracle cure-all, no doubt there are other products available.

If you want a deep prep when you first receive the car, find a professional and have them use a clay bar and this range of products www.gtechniq.com then I would use the Zaino stuff thereafter for the weekly clean & polish. The range is very broad and different products can / should be layered which will improve the overall appearance over time. No real guarantees but I care about my stuff and this is what I use.

When you first receive a car from the factory the surface is and very quickly becomes peppered with contaminants that you can't see (you can feel them on your 'clean' car with your fingers through a cellophane cigarette packet wrapper - try on an old car and feel how rough the surface feels). These small metal filings from brake dust etc. are what you spread around when washing incorrectly, they damage the surface and cause the swirl marks that are often seen after time. It all depends what money you want to spend up front but ideally the car should be clayed and treated up front to ensure it's best possible chance of survival.

Hi,

We (Panda Mo & myself) too have a Cross on order, bought ours with the discount available under the affinity scheme thanks to the Fiat motor club UK.

Our Cross is due in December too, we are thinking of leaving it in the dealership until the new year so that we can register it as a 2015 car if it only means waiting a couple of weeks. Mind you, those couple of weeks may prove to be too long, especially if it looks like we would be missing out on some snowy fun :D.

How is your Yellow Cross coming along?
I would have thought it would be in the UK by now.

No idea. Only stage we're interested in is, 'It's ready come and get it'.

I have recently bought a couple of Mk1's which are keeping me occupied till the big day comes, so my self control is not as good as it may appear from that first sentence.

Its surely standing on its own four wheels by now. And knowing when u ordered it, I think its on UK soil. It'll be thinking, whats happened to the warm air & weather of Naples last week, and just realising why its steering wheel was on a different side to the other crosses in the factory. Its gonna be a very happy Panda getting you as keeper but having two of its great uncles to park next to. Sounds like a good life.

My Green Cross is still code (status ;) ) 13(n)

What was your confirmed order date? Add 23 days and see if thats ur status 20 day, when it comes.
While l was listening to radio2 yesterday, they played a snippet of the Green Cross safety advert from my childhood. Remember it?
"Remember kids, Green+Cross wont be there when you cross the road"
Green+Cross guy then got the lesser know role as Darth Vader.

Advice I maybe should have listen to before not going for the Green Cross.

Ahhh, you make it sound so human. I never used to name my cars, thought it silly, until I started owning Pandas. Maybe it's because they're named after a cuddly furry bear that we form such attachments, whatever it is it certainly helps you to look after them better. :).
