More of thing over multiple days...

Last Friday apparently my son was in 4 fights at nursery with the same child.

This is unlike him to say the least and culminated with him taking skin off both this kids cheeks with his nails in the final bout.

Obviously we were pretty gutted as it's out of character. Had a stern chat with him...he wasn't saying nowt until bath time. At bath time noticed he had a mark on his chest, asked him what happened burst in tears and showed me his thumb told me other child bit him.

Wasn't witnessed...so still went through telling him to behave himself etc.

Today wife was walking in with him, the child he fought with is Walking in behind him..says " Hello" he says "Hello" back kid then says.."eee you talking to me today rather than scratching my face.."

You know what it is...next time he decides to wind you little man put him down properly he's a head shorter than you...and he's clearly been winding him all day hence the 4 incidents.

Ah, one of those kids. Usually, the school bouts are 'one and done' and they're best buds an hour later.

My younger brother was a button pusher, instigator, see what I can get away with, kind of kid that was a thorn in my side for 14 of my 67 years. He was also bigger than me until I was 18. Nip it in the bud now.

My folks were "work it out" but also "he's younger than you". Something finally snapped in June of 74. It took both parents and two sets of neighbors to pull me off of him. I probably would have killed him if they hadn't. As it was, I broke his jaw, his nose, and three fingers. My Dad and I damn near went at it when they yanked me off. Tempers flaring was an understatement but they finally saw the rage I had. I left home shortly after that, and it took twenty years before my brother and I spoke again. He got his ass handed to him a few more times from others he messed with before he got out of college.

Hopefully won't get that far...though you'd imagine he'd have less of a spring in his step given he finished Friday looking like he'd been attacked by miniature wolverine.

Clearly he's happy it didn't get pinned on him..

Although if it happens again the conversation will change from "we don't solve our problems with violence" to "push him over and kick him in the nuts and daddy will happily have that conversation with the school."

At the end of the day this kid is nearly a year younger than him...and that age that's about 20% height and weight disadvantage..so in some ways while I don't want him scrapping..I very much want the other kid to "f*** around and find out".

My experience of bullies at school, were that they were the lonely, misfits, with no friends. Ignored by others, they turn to violence to get noticed. Making friends with them removes the threat, and gains a 'protector', ready to fight your battles for you. Being ultra nice might work.
(Not that I know anything about kids, having spent a lifetime avoiding the frightening creatures.)

There is some truth to that, but like in my brothers' case, sometimes they are just assholes.

A change of subject, my cell phone, mobile to you guys, started circling the drain yesterday. Actually, it's been doing that for over a year, but I've managed to limp it along until it no longer could. Poop. Best phone I ever had and I got almost four years out of it. Damn thing was bullet proof and you could use it as a wheel chock for a truck. Alas, also discontinued.

I'm not a fanboy of either Samsung nor iPhones, which the dweeb at the phone store was trying to push on me. I settled on a Google Pixel 6a. My only dislike is it isn't a mil-spec phone like my last one, but I can get a mil-spec case.

I think my explanation about the reasons behind the need for a mil-spec phone in the civilian world fell on deaf ears. Not everyone works indoors nor in a clean, dry environment.

I got the Google Pixel 6 pro while it was on clearance last year. At the time I looked at the A but you could get the full house one for the same price...or the Pro for a few hundred more.

It's a good phone, in terms of spec you've got same processor as the big lad it's just ram, battery and camera really.

I always stick spigen tough armour cases on and shrink to fit screen protectors on...as if I had a pound for every time I'd dropped my phone running or on a day out or my son had...I could afford a new phone. Main thing if you've got a decent case is they are waterproof for 30 mins in shallow water so if you drop it in a puddle or snow or whatever it's not a bother.

The 6a was almost nothing as far as price. It also has double the RAM and quadruple the memory of the old Kyocera. The case for it will be here today. Myself, I have managed to crack only one screen in 25 years and that was on an LG 6. As both front and back of that POS was glass, I cracked both. And it was in a case when it happened.

If they'd been the prices they are now I'd probably have had one, but the then new price about 450, or you could get a pixel 6 for 480...or the 6 pro with 256gb memory and 12gb ram for 600 which was what I went for. They are in the 300s or 150 used now though at which point it's nearly disposable.

Also the cheaper ones are "Glasstic" so probably better for you...mines all glass. Hence beast cases and protectors.

Travelling about yesterday as we had some stuff booked for mother's Day and wife was off.

Local junction, that requires a tight turn for cars turning left..

The reason for the yellow box is long vehicles can not make it without entering the other lane so if there's a queue of cars one bus or rigid truck can stop it all.

Anyway I'm travelling in the direction the Google car is looking here, behind one other car with the intention of positioning myself where the C3 Picasso is to make the right turn once the car in front clears.

As I'm travelling over the yellow box a Volvo swings in from the right across the centre line, then sees me coming, stops and beeps his horn, wife says "you were cheeky there" "pardon?" "You shouldn't have gone into the yellow box". Que a discussion which can be boiled down to her saying you don't enter a yellow box if any other car is in it (the car I was following was in it but travelling) and me saying..I have every right to be in the yellow box as I can cross it without stopping, he on the other hand has no right to my side of the road.

Reasonably good natured discussion as these things go...so later in the trip she randomly says "stay on your side of the road" to which I reply "I am" "No the guy coming the other way".."Oh now it's a problem..wasn't earlier" he says with a grin..

Tbf being the inner 12 year old I am we had a lovely day, were driving back got to the aforementioned junction completed the maneuver without entering the other lane while asking my wife if I should be beeping the horn at the cars on the other side of the road.

Yes it is indeed petty...🤣

Vehicles that cant make the turn are TOO BIG and should be banned!

Pandas on the top!
When we had our mk2b Punto HGT the turning circle was bloody terrible. My brother lives in a close with a big circle at the end of it, still had to do a 3 point turn just to get out of the close again. My Golf and Mini Countryman which is twice the size of the old Punto do the turn no problems in one. So that's old performance Puntos that are banned first lol

A long time ago, I had a 1984 Fiat Argenta (facelift of the 132). That had such a large turning circle, it would need a motorway for a 3-point turn.
Better than a Panda 100HP then..... That car needed serious concentration getting into parking spaces in supermarkets or it was very embarrasing. Both really good cars though the 132 / Argenta was quite a machine in its day.

I enjoyed it for two years, but gradually got tired of the hassle of trying to park it. Then it started getting lighter, and the holes were growing faster than I could weld them.
Replaced with a Panda 750. There's a change.

There was a car I wanted....but for some reason my local Fiat garage decided the best test route to show it off at it's finest was..up and down a speed bumped industrial estate with a three turn at the far end.

It's amazing they sold any at all with sales people that on the ball. Strangely having experienced it in literally the worst possible circumstances..I bought the similarly sized, similarly nippy Suzuki Swift instead.

Brings back memories if seeing an 18 month old 124 in the high street when I was in my teens, You could load the shoppi ng into the boot through the hole in the panel work under the abck window. The rot wasnt as bad as my mothers new Autobianchi. I lover that car for a coupke of months. I t had to be PX'd at about 10 months as it was clearly going to dissolve.

You definitely missed out there. I like the Suzuki but I really thing the 100HP was an all time great.

shortly after the 100hp came the 500 Abarth and I feel the 100hp of the panda was somewhat massively overshadowed by the 135hp of the 500.

I seem to think that model of panda was quite heavy so didn’t gain much in performance over the earlier Punto mk2 abarth, all of which now seem to have disappeared.

When I drove the 100hp I had a Punto mk1 85 16v. The 1.4 felt disappointingly flat, I'd imagine a combo of about 50kg of kerb weight, bigger wheels, drive by wire throttle rather got rid of any feeling of additional speed.

So I was left with a car that felt as fast/slow as my current one...but had no ride quality or steering feel compared to the older hydraulic set up. Oh and made 3 point turns 5 point turns and a smaller boot.

After the mk1 killed itself...test drove a 2b with the 1.4 (a rare high spec 5 door not a sporting though have driven a sporting as well)..again dimwitted throttle and leccy steering were the things I did not want. At that point I gave up trying to find a Fiat I liked as the GP was not my cup of tea at all..
