Just wondering who has breakdown cover and is it worth it in your opinion?
I'm new on the roads and have just got my first car and very tempted to get breakdown cover from the RAC incase of unfortunate circumstances lol, it's £28 and I think that's a good price.

Thoughts/Opinions?

Mine was first included with my insurance, was something like an extra £30 or something, well worth it, locked my keys in the car, and they came out and got them out within 30 minutes.

Might be worth seeing if your insurance do it, I got mine with MoreThan, and was very happy with them, not going to renew it with the RAC this year, not had a good experience with them.

I took out Green Flag cover when my AA cover lapsed, never used it but good to know I am not completely alone should the car surprize me and break one day... £35 a year.

Covered by the Family Policy on RAC. Definitely worth it.

I'll just have a quick rant though. Breakdown cover would be so much cheaper if those blue collared ****s actually got their hands dirty and changed their own wheel for once. I got to ride up front with the recovery guy after my HG blew, and he had loads of stories to tell about incompetent individuals who know nothing about their cars, wasting his time. He had one guy who turned the car on whilst he was changing the wheel, almost cutting his arm off with the active suspension.

I had it on the Panda then cancelled it as my insurance had run out and knew I couldn't be driving again for a while (didnt happen oops)

Then with the punto I went with a different insurance company and they were asking for £50 something for the basic cover I told them where to swivel.

So no actually I dont have any at the moment oops even though the punto is more likely to clonk out on me than the panda :(

I drive a 12 year old Marea and I don't have breakdown cover, I must be mad :p I used to be with the AA but when they tried to take £150 for a years cover I decided they were taking the p1$$ and cancelled it.
I am considering getting some breakdown cover but don't know who with yet.

Ring up some recovery firms and ask them how much it costs these days to get trailered off the hard-shoulder if you were to suffer a breakdown or accident........that should throw it for you. (BTW, make sure you are sat down before you ask the question).

I dont have a clue how to change a tyre, or really care enough to learn. I cant see how much cheaper it would be, if people are paying £35 a year, I think thats cheap.

*waits for abuse*

Your very brave if you own a Fiat and dont have breakdown.

Ive got mine through my insurance which was £50 for their top one. Included home start, b&b for 2 nights if needed, courtesy car and a few other bits on top of the usual stuff.

I noticed some companies dont offer breakdown cover for cars over 10 years old.

How does that work when my car was 9 years old in may and if I started cover now the car would be just 10 when the cover expires. Do they have to honour the contract or if I break down in the last month do they refuse me?

how many of these threads do we need?
:yeahthat:

Think even I made a thread about this once

I'm with AA through bank, then got cover with someone else through current insurance company and also with RAC through my Tesco clubcard rewardscheme.

So if ever I brake down I ought to callout all 3 and see who arrives 1st :p
