Hi All,

I'm looking for break down cover, i've looked at the usual places, AA, RAC etc however, since my punto is over 10 years old (p reg) they simply wont cover me :(

does any one know of any suitable breakdown cover??

any advice would be much appreciated

thanks

Best cover I've had is with Britania breakdown.

www.britanniarescue.com

I started using them after the AA left my ex-wife and 3 young children all under 5 stranded in the middle of nowhere for 6 hours in freezing tempratures then tried to blame there agent(who incidently I knew so I saw the call logs the agent keeps with the details of the incident. The AA didnt inform the agent for 4 hours about the call out and didnt pass on any info about the situation being a priority call - single women 3 kids in the middle of Northumberland. When we complained the AA tried to worm there way out of it saying it was all the agents fault and offered us a months free cover)

Been with Britania for 2 years now and never had any problems - agent on scence with in an hour everytime and when they say UNLIMITED call outs thats exactly what they mean unlike people like the AA and RAC who will charge you if go over a set amount of call outs in the course of membership - last time this happened to me the AA tried charging me £80 as had used them 8 times in a year.

The only thing that I would say about Britannia is that the mebership is on the vechicle NOT you.
So that if your traveling in another car that breaksdown then your priety much stuffed. But you can get personal cover if you pay extra.

Saying that though a friend of mine broke down and I was the only person they could get hold of at 4am and I had been drinking so got a taxi out to meet them taking some tools etc but couldnt make a roadside repair , called Britannia explained the situation and they sent out an agent to see what could be done and he couldnt fix it either but he recovered the vechicle and only charged my friend £50 for a 30 minute tow home when normaly it would of been a £150 call out and something stupid like £25 a mile towing charge.

All in all they get 100% recomendation from me.
(and seeing this has just reminded me my covers run out  )

what you on about AA dont cover the car, they cover you no matter what car you are in, you dont even have to be the driver, if you are a pasenger you are covered

The AA were quite happy to bail me out a few weeks ago when my 400/4 got a puncture 75 miles away from home and thats a P reg.........a 1976 P reg :D

With the AA (and probably some other breakdown organisations) you can choose whether you want the membership to cover you for any car or the car for any driver.

There is no car age restriction for UK membership but for AA European breakdown cover the car is restricted to 11 years old. I've just added it for my drive down to Greece in 3 weeks time.

Dave.

Not all the time i think im only covered for my car as my card has it reg number on it. AA seem good to me i used them at donny and they was with me in 10mins. im going with them again in august and get that thing where for £60 if you brake down they take you to a garage and pay
For £500 of the cost up to 5times a year
