Always been with RAC and never had any issues regarding waiting times for recovery and discounts for no call outs were always good - you not get breakdown cover included with your insurance ?

Green flag do a decent deal, even better if you go via a cashback site ;) (giveortake will give you £20) :D :D

thanks for the info tho much appreciated xxxxxxx

being with AA but they will not admit if they make a mistake
AA are crap
they sent a guy out and he said the van was ****ed and we should just buy a new van
it was only an alternator tensioner or something simple and easy a bely
was a 5 min job when back at work

the guy they sent to pick it up told us the exact cause but the initial one said it was shagged
,,,
case 2
mum gets flat tire on slip road (woman drivers too busy groping so she couldnt change it herself cause she would have died)

so she phoned AA
your not with us you will have to pay 86 pounds
turns out her number plate was out by one letter
she gave the correct membership numbers and everything
but because of this they wanted her to pay again
all casue they can not copy a numberplate down
lady later said they was a letter out

inbetween my dad arriving to do it

3 other vehicles stopped
Ice cream man, taxi driver, student so 2 had stuff to loose

then there's a 3rd reason but i forgot it.

anyways i asked for a apology for my mum
i had to give them the exact details of what happened
why cant a company just say sorry, they might have kept our membership

RAC
no chance of what happened to my mum
They sent individual (posted in one letter) but addressed by number plates letters
ensuring the number plates are correct (not broken down yet)

cheers, thanks for the link aswell came to good use!!(y)
seams like ppl have had problems with every company! normaly wouldnt bother but doin an 900mile round trip to the highlands and back next month and would rather b safe then sorry as they say

Another recommendation here for Green Flag, always been good and got me sorted. Also if they don't have any vans local to you at the time they send a contractor out to get you sorted faster and send out the most appropriate vehicle depending on what's wrong. Found out the other day RAC always send a van out first and only then will send a truck

Am through Flux now with my insurance but never needed to use it *touch wood*.

I just got cover with RAC for £28 for a year, minus £20 cashback via Quidco. So that's 67p a month then!

This is for cover for the car for any driver, without homestart, which roughly trebles the price - seems too much to me. If it breaks down in the drive I'll just ring a local garage and ask them to pop out and have a look at it. I can't imagine they'd turn away a customer for the sake of driving round the corner.

AA was £29 minus £20, so will use them next year (the Quidco cashback will only work for a new customer).

Going to be different here. With the exception of a couple of years with Green
Flag because it came free with the car insurance, I've always been with the AA. Only had cause to call Green Flag once when a fan belt broke, but the guy who came out diagnosed the fault as a failed water pump. I've never been keen on their system as most of the "patrols" tend to be contractors. Otherwise I've never had a problem in over 20 years with the yellow vans.

If you want this for a specific trip then you can cancel within 14 days and get a full refund.

So get covered, then if you don't need it get a refund after. A bit dodgy but perfectly possible.

They may not want to cover you again though.

If you have a credit card then look at autoaidbreakdown.co.uk

If you breakdown you phone them and they arrange to get someone to fix your car or tow you. You then send them the receipt and they reimburse you.

My Dad swears by AutoAid and my girlfriend has joined them too.

They were also praised on moneysavingexpert.com

Thanks,

Ben

My whole family been with AA for ages. I joined onto the family membership and the start date on the card is 1978 (Thats a good 11 years before i was born!)

Anyways, we have the whole package, homestart to call out. We've had to call them out a few times for various jobs. I've done when the back box come off.

No problems at all, always been there within 40mins and you get a txt when its sorted and on way and laos txt when they are near.

When the back box fell off, he followed me home to make sure i got there. I know it was on the exhaust but tbf when it goes from quiet to loud and you aint been in that situation before it was good to have some guidance.

was with the AA but when i had an accident on my bike (which i didn't want to go through insurance) they were gonna charge me £100 to come out and X amount per mile to get me and the bike home.

a friend had RAC cover that included free accident recovery. so he got them to take me and the bike home.

the AA did come out once when I was in the fiat and it died after driving through a puddle:rolleyes: took them nearly an hour and it was mid winter and icey :(

i'm now with the RAC (y)

I agree that Autoaid are the best value. OK, I've never needed to use their service as I'm a bit obsessional about car maintenance. Also, you do have to pay up front then claim back as it's an insurance based service.
They also cover a couple (married?) for the same price as for one person.

(y)thanks guys really appreciate the help, not needing it at this very moment in time but i just wanted to know before hand insterad of running round at the last minute!
thanks alot, hope every one has a nice weekend

Go for Greenflag for me they seem to be the best, had no problem with them over the past few years, and have been called outi think 3 times.

Cause i get it through work i do it in my dads name. it covers him and my mum in any car and the cover is on my car too,........anyhoo

My dad called them when my mums car wouldnt start at home, they took it to a local garage no problem, then the was the time i decided to go to wales for the day for a drive through the brecons, my cars steerin jst became soo heavy called the bloke out they came i think a tad over what they stated said alternator had gone, i chose to take it to their place as costs were pretty reasonable to repair but being a sat eve they were shut till mon, so they took my car to theirs and gave me a 2.0l mondeo, to drive round in for a few days, this became my home haha.

2nd time i needed them for accident recovery, very good service i think and if there late they'll give u a tenner. It was all contracters cummin out...so it aint as professional as the others but its a gd service
