You cut the roundabout and say its not your fault?

FTW? Cant make Head nor Tail of the pic... was everyone going the wrong way around the roundabout?

Aaah I sse it now... the van driver pulled out, incorrectly assuming you were positioned to go further round the roundabout than you intended?

Your road positioning and Van Mans hurry, = accident.

slightly but it but if i didn't the van would have being more forwards and i might have plowed on through the van

also the van driver should have noticed me cutting roundabout and noticed i wasnt going left

anyways i need to go for a drive to collage back later on about 6ish with traffic or 8 ish if i try a shortcut

wasn't an accident I'm just checking if i should confuse the people by the junction by indicating now i used to half indicate but thought it could work against me by people think i was going left

most people indicate left for left there

Accidents are almost always the sum of the input of all involved. If you had been positioned and indicated your intention to exit Mr Van Man would probably have stayed where he was, he was probably in a hurry and chanced it, Bang!

you dont have to go around a painted roundabout, they are just to show rounabout rules apply, ie give way to the right, and your dad is correct, you dont indicate right when going straight over

copper had a word with me before when I cut a mini roundabout coming out of a carpark...

sorry, the van driver should have noticed you cutting the roundabout?
the whole point of a roundabout is yuo go round it.
100% your fault from what i see

As far as i remember a person that has entered a roundabout has right of way so if the OP had already entered the roundabout (which judging by his comment of him cutting across the roundabout he was) the van driver was at fault!

Rules at mini-roundabouts are the same as at full sized roundabouts, as you are approaching the junction get in lane, slow down and prepare to stop, give way to the right.

Treat it like you would any other roundabout, using your indicators protects you, it lets other people know what you are going to do. As with all parts of life communication is the key.

Don't cut the roundabout, if plod saw you, and he was having a bad day, he will pull you over for it.

Lmao same here custard initially! no arrows on the OP's direction of travel.... ermmm not indicating pmsl!

i still dont understand the pic, there is:
thin red line
fat red line
light blue line
dark blue line

what are they all for?

i think fat red is his car, the light blue is the path he had to take to avid the van, and the dark blue is the van. the thin red is nothing at all and only there to confuse me.

BUT if the fat red line is the car's path then it didnt cut the roundabout? and then the only problem is the van pulled out on you, which is normal at a mini roundabout, it happens to me at least once a day, and i do it to other people at least once a day, thats what mini roundbaout are all about.

Yep... OP enters stage top right, sees Mr Van coming into his path as he cuts the roundabout, then OP "floors it" and goes along the light blue line route to avoid Mr Van. No collision happily. I STILL say OP's road positioning was partly to blame, along with Mr Vans probale (but typical) hurry mode at the time.

You're dad's wrong. The roundabout and the junction are two separate road features. If you consider that exit to be going right (and I suppose it is), then you should be indicating right.

I'm not sure if you're trying to be funny but there's no smiley.
A mini roundabout is to be treated the same as a normal, raised roundabout. The centre is painted as the roundabout is smaller, which allows larger vehicles (such as HGVs) to pass over the painted section. Highway code section 188. "All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so." i.e. it's the law.
and your dad is correct, you dont indicate right when going straight over
Is that going straight over? What his dad said was that you don't indicate if there's a junction on the right.
