Dad popping by to give me first-hand view of his new (used) Giulietta SportivaQV - gotta love that car! Oh yeah, and I managed to fit the decat manifold to my Punto! Now it just needs a clean, but that'll have to wait until I return from Paris Motorshow ;)

Nothing beats washing the car on a weekend though, it has like a therapeutic aspect IMO!

Done both of ours today...it started raining horizontally when I was half way through the 1st one. It was then more a case of grim determination to get through it! Especially as it was raining so hard you couldn't see where you'd been!

However it's sunny now and it's always nice to wash the DS3 because it comes up like new penny..if they agree to replace the second set of wheels under warranty (white rust again 8 months after the 1st replacements) and replace the rear cluster that is half full of water then you could almost say it looked like a low mileage 2 year old car.

Having a wife who watches Emmerdale and Coronation street doesn't have many advantages however the hilarity of the recent episodes has made up for it...

I'm tempted to start an online petition to pedestrianise coronation street they'd have to think of a new way to generate drama. There's been at least 5 fatal or near fatal accidents in the last year on one residential street, why aren't the residents up and arms and demanding speed cameras? Speed bumps more enforcement?

Emmerdale...just WTH misery meets low budget final destination..needs to be seen to be believed.

Managing to fit a sidelight in a minute...

Not a big achievement Tbf but given last time I did one it turned into a 2 hour saga involving removing the arch liners, skinned knuckles and at one point looking for new headlamps on eBay I was chuffed.

Note to self sidelight bulb holders only fit one way up on a Mazda 3 always always make note of what way up it was when removing it!

Half term over and I've put several hundred miles on the Multipla. Up to North Yorkshire then over to Scarborough back to Derby and then down to Hertfordshire and Essex. This is nothing a new car can't do but I'm and old fart these days and am constantly amazed at the fact I have a 13 year old car with 125K on the clock. My first car was scrapped and it was younger with less miles and a lot more rust!

Got the Citroen back from its year 2 service.

This is the parts and parts alone bill.

However it's leased from VW...so VW is paying a grand to keep a **** Citroen on the road. This amuses me. Car in question is 2 years old and has done 10k.

What the hell is wrong with it to need that much money spent on it !?

Bear in mind this a Citroen main agent..so that's the bill for new rear discs and pads apparently caused by it standing for 16 days when we cruised round Europe, also the exhaust had rusted off it's mountings and needed welding/new parts oh and the rear lamp unit has failed and is half full of water (314 quid for that alone).

Strangely the Mazda also stood for 16 days while we were in Europe..and it's not ****ed..

Lady at the service desk did seem confused when I just burst out laughing..

Safe to say I'd have that Citroen traded in for a newish Fiat from a reputable dealer in a week, and I'd be hanging about the Citroen showroom handing out copies of that utter sh*t of a repair quote! Let the poor people know what to expect on their second service!!! Madness!

Unfortunately fiat have decided to neglect their range unless it has a 500 badge and therefore don't build a car that would fit the requirements also if I was hanging out in my local Citroen dealer I'd also be hanging out in my local Fiat dealer. Previous experience suggests they are rubbish...

Next nearest dealer is a 2 hour round trip which I know because it's next door to the next nearest Citroen dealer (who so far seem a little more competent we shall see if they manage to damage the car during the remedial work like the last one did..).

Also if we want a small stylish 5 door that comes in interesting colours and has 100bhp+ Fiat sell literally nothing that fits that bill.
