I am in the market for some new tyres, however instead of the standard 205 45 17 fitment i am after the 215 45 17 fitment.

Although they are many threads on this, i was wondering if people could upload pics of their GPS with 215 45 17 fitment as i am unsure on the size of the tyre wall been to thick for my liking etc.

Cheers

Hi sorry to be aabit numb if i sound it, but how and why do 215 45- 17" fit?

i thought that if anything the change would be to the 45 to 50 or 40 with this being the depth (ground to rim).
:bang:
and the width of the tyre being 205?

i am currently looking at getting some 205 40 17's will these fit????

Basing this on the Sporting having 205/45/17 as standard then.

205/40 on a Sporting is -3.5% Different
215/40 on a Sporting is -1.95% Different
215/45 on a Sporting is +1.46% Different

Ride quality will be better on the 45 profile too, also the reccomendation is not to deviate more than 2.5-3% remember a Gatso or such will (ACPO Reccomendation) allow 3% over the speed limit.

PS Bolton? Where abouts!
PPS More info? Use this http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator.htm

Ye, 205 or 215 relates to the width of the tyre does it not? So a 215 would not fit on a 205 rim (obviously it does from the pictures)? Where am I going wrong

Nah just round the corner :)

I've had Yokos before on the Bravo and they were good, I Like my Kumho's though (Mid Range Also) but may....try Pirelli P Zero next.

yeah, my bro has got some toyo's on his and they are S*ite!! so staying clear of them. and i have got some federals on mine, like driving on glass.

so what you got planned next for yours?

i dont know what to do with mine now.

I have Nankang NS-2's on the front of mine at the moment and there as good as the standard Potenza RE050A easily-and a quarter of the price.
Best tyre I had IN THE DRY was yokohama parada spec 2 but you will eat through them quick.
Sticks like **** to blanket even with standard suspension.

Hated the NS2's though they were quite worn when I bought the GP.

doesnt look as bad as i though 'alexh365', thanks again. That confirms i will purchase some 215 45 17 tyres, there are much cheaper than 205 45 17 on average too, so cant fault and as you say ride quality is better, as with sportlines on atm its not the smoothest of rides.

sorry if this further off topic but ive seen in the classifieds there are t-jet wheels and tyres for sale, i have a 1.2 active and have read a lot about gear box issues when upgrading to a bigger wheel. whats your advice?

Yeah only went back to 205 for the winter as they were more readily available (Dunno why)

erm....i have remapped, vinyled the grill, and private plate ;-)

i am thinking about possibly painting std wheels grey, and going for some stripes. but not the normal fiat stripes them there too common imo
