Is it worth trying to align my Grane Punto wheels at home?

Would it save money?

I presume its not that difficult but currently have no idea what to do.

In theory it is possible. You can work out the required distance between front of the wheel rim and compare to the rear of the wheel rim. But it'll never be that accurate.

I've done similar with a piece of wood to get front and rear the same (0°), and then take it to a proper tracking shop. Only because I've had both sides completely dismantled and needed it to be roughly right.
Or with a long enought stick, compare to the rear, but the rear might be out too.

I've watched some YouTube vids and they're using string or similar. It doesn't look like it'd be that accurate!

In the dim and distant past I've paid for this but I can't remember if I thought it made a difference.

With the old cars I have it could make the car smoother at higher speeds, but I don't drive that fast.
