I dont personaly think its worth all the trouble.the turbo is a straight swap.
Fiat in there wisdom have put some bolts the wrong way round.(youll see what i mean) change all gaskets.it isnt worth not for the cost.
If it blows when you put it back youll regret it.ive had a fair saga with mine.!
First remap my ecu blew up.! When replaced and mapped it only made 168 bhp.185 lbft..big dips in the power and tourqe curvs.kept boost cutting.....!
Purchased the required sensors(no body will help you with technical for the correct ones).back on the rollers my engine blew up.
Not a happy bunny...
 
I'm scared now! Might be able to make it to the rolling road day so i'll let red dot map it and pray it doesn't explode!
 
No its working fine, I think its showing 168 bhp

So did you experience any exploding engines/ECU's or boost limiters like benpunto/hf intergrale?

170bhp is about what i am aiming for but i need 100% reliability to go with it (and also need to get insurance quote to come through without raping my wallet too much)
 
If you only want 170 then GSR, high flowing exhaust, FMIC and remap should see you close enough to that.

FMIC = £350?
Cat Back = £200?
GSR = £180
Remap = £200

Total = £930

Thought the Abarth turbo would be a cheaper option. I plan on adding aforementioned items at some point though. May well be at the RR day yet just gotta see if i can get insured with new turbo (then i'll GSR it and remap it - again if insurance allows). And i'm now worried that it wasn't the easy swop i thought it would be, i cover a fair amount of miles so need to be confident! Will have to sell it on if Elephant won't have it :(
 
yes i do have problems with mine at the moment, as soon as it boosts up to around 20psi the little ecu does not like it:( im confused by it because red dot said it ran fine with just the abarth turbo on it :( what psi are you running??

Nothing at the moment its still sitting in a box under my desk! waiting on my quotes to get it fitted and insurance cost for adding it!

I guess the ECU will be seeing it as an overboost, so backs off the protect the turbo. Im not sure if just a remap will sort that though
 
as my t-jet is boost cutting with the abarth turbo on it, i decided today at work, jsut as an idea that i would dissconnect the battery for an hour to reset the ecu, then after re-adjusting all clock and radio i ran it on the rollers, and it did not boost cut :):) and was boosting just over 10psi which is standard boost for the t-jets and also i would like to say that my figers on the rolling road with the abarth turbo and it produced
ALL STOCK APART FROM ABARTH CENTER AND BACKBOX IT PRODUCED:
143 BHP
154 FT TORQUES
ALL STOCK APART FROM ABARTH TURBO AND ABARTH EXHAUST IT PRODUCED:
149.9 BHP
160.4 FT TORQUES

so im not sure how much a remap would bump up the power by?
would a g-tech tuning box for an abarth work on a t-jet as they are the same ecu's?
Also i get pictures of graphs tomorow as i left them at work because it seems to have more low down grunt.
 
it took me around 5 hours to fit, so 1bhp per 1hour lol so no i dont think its worth it:(
 
how can i have done something wrong? and nope this is around the same power that justin got out of his t-jet when he had a abarth turbo on it but i wont be taking it to red dot either :)
 
don't ask me! I am rubbish. I was hoping to just bolt it on and get 150bhp straight away! then its in situ for FMIC, Cat Back, GSR and remap at a later date

Has abarth the same boost pressure with the tjet?? (i can't remeber :p )
