Something not adding up there..

How on earth have the brakes failed structurally in that time and use..?

(Im aware the modern brakes are inferior quality.. discs being required at 20k..
But 2.5 times quicker : should time to inform 'the ministry')

4 years with very little use could easily cause a lot of rust build up especially if a large part of that millage was the first year

Surface corrosion.. of course

But - not delamination of the steel !!

Thats a manufacturing defect

Maybe I've read it differently but to me it sounded like that was on the edge/side of the disc Which ofc never gets any braking action so bits peeling off where the rust has built up significantly is surprisingly common

The rear discs on my nearly 3 year old Tipo were like that on the edges could be chipped away which a good hit from a screwdriver but the sweet surface is perfect clean metal

This was our "delamination" just really bad rust on the drums

While the condition of those is clearly un-acceptable an needed replacing, that does not fit with the described behaviour of the car. I can't see both sides grabbing equally at the same time and there i no connection to the clutch issue. Of course having your brakes fail while driving is not conducive to accurate diagnostic observation.

I’m don’t think I’m going out on a limb by saying I definitely don’t believe this is your problem, there is nothing there that would cause the brakes to jam on solidly and definitely not then affect the clutch operation in anyway.

What you do have there is a normal set of disc for a 4 and a half year old car that had sat around a lot and only don’t 8k miles.

I’ve driven cars with far worse brakes than that for many miles with no problems. If I looked at the brakes of a car and saw they were in that condition, jamming on wouldn’t concern me at all.
