So is that really just a mock-up of what someone expects it to look like? The front end looks sensible but the swaged lower sides look like any Audi or BMW. The 500 doors should curve gently to meet the sills, not be bulked out at the bottom. That ‘wider stance’ is not the 500’s original charm.

The new 500 wil be a all electric B-segment car.
Wheelbase will grow from 2300mm to 2470mm.
The car will grow in the same proportions.
Wonder what will happen to the Abarth Brand. ??

The new 500 will be fitted with a V8 and also be all wheel drive and have adjustable air suspension and wheel sizes up to 22”.
I’m in Innsbruck at the moment with a dozen automotive engineers doing a test drive. We’ve seen these V8 all wheel drive 500s. Honest.
That said one of our prototype cars has a ford badge written in the road muck on the back and Focus written next to it, it’s not a Focus...

Sources close to me said yesterday that Fiat will shock the world by announcing that the 500 is to go RWD in some spec levels. This might seem natural considering the original was rear wheel drive, but the new one with be RIGHT wheel drive with a big elastic band running the length of the car and sending drive the front right and rear right wheels. This new arrangement will result in a 0.1% fuel economy increase from the 5.7 litre V8 up front and free up 2 litres of interior space for the occupants.
The current combustion-engined 500 will still be produced for a while yet. The electric version is essentially an additional model, rather than a complete replacement.
