abyss113, do you still have time to pick up the water pump for us please. Less chance of me getting it wrong but I will be in Aberdeen tomorrow morning and can get it then if you can't. Will sort out money when you get up here
well i think they are interchangeable, but i'm 95% sure it's 20 teeth, same as the cinq ones. they listed as they fit on that block too so has to be really
Mark, Daz and I are heading to ecp first thing to get the water pump and something else which my phone will beep at me shortly to remind me. Martyn is heading to Persley to see what they have in and a more conventional shop to pick up teabags. The aim for us is to be onsite for 10 am and if anyone else can make it at that time then great. If not it's the usual story of text me or Martyn when you get there so we can get you through the gates
Please everyone keep your fingers-crossed that we get Yellow running today
Quick update. New pump collected and fitted. No more leaks, though we did have fun with one stubborn rad pipe. Cam and shims transplanted thanks to Mark and Daz, who also swapped the coolant temp sensor. brakes cleaned up nicely thanks to Stuarty.
So we started yellow up and still werent sure. Idle was a bit off etc. Mark and Daz did some troubleshooting and swapped maf sensors....problem solved!! We took the rebuilt yellow back to the car park for a run. He idled much better in the shed but was a little rough outside again. Back in tomorrow so well see if we can get him 100% which Im sure wr can
Then it would be mot time
It's been a while since I've posted shiny vs. non-shiny pictures so we're due a couple. Here's the old water pump - note the lack of gasket
here's the new water pump including the gasket that Fiat say they cannot supply on it's own
We think there was very little wrong with the old water pump apart from a small hole where the gasket should have been (I think...someone else can confirm this). All sorted now hopefully.
Anyway...it was a busy day in the shed which was helped by several FS members
Thanks particularly to @Mrcento and @abyss113 for all their help and for taking the time and money (even if it was only less than 1/8 of a tank) to head north to work on the cars. It really was much appreciated and I hope Mark enjoyed driving a 'cento again today.
Thanks to @Stuart for doing the brakes and lecturing certain people on how things should be stored in a well-run workshop and @lewisp for once again showing commitment to the project and mucking in as and when required.
It's another day at the shed tomorrow so if you're interested in turning up and helping out in whatever capacity you can please let us know.
