Re: Hawk remote locking not working

Hi mate,

Have you tried the wire between earth and the cars unlock/ lock wires (one at a time) to confirm the central locking is working correctly?

This takes the RCL kit completely out of the equation. Once we have established the car side of things is working correctly we can then intergrate the remote kit into it.

Ie if the doors don't lock when u put a wire between earth and the cars LOCK trigger wire, then no RCL kit will work untill you establish why the CAR isn't functioning as it should.

Hi so I done as you said and I put a wire from my earth to the spade connector on the crimp on the lock wire. It locked the doors of my car. But I then put a cable from my earth to the lock wire before it goes into the remote locking kit and it done nothing.

I also connected a wire between the earth and the unlock crimp connector and nothing happened. I tried this both when my doors was locked and unlocked.

Hopefully this helps

Thanks,
Russ

Re: Hawk remote locking not working

Hi mate,

Well a positive thing is that we have established that your LOCK connection is good (y)

Obviously the unlock connection is not working. Firstly, what colour wire are you connecting to? as some people have advised you different wires :bang:
Secondly, the "crimp connection" you are referring to... are you sure its making a good connection to the wire?

Once we get both the LOCK and the UNLOCK functions operating MANUALLY using the test lead, we can then move to integrating the RCL kit.

I have merged your new thread with the old one so that people are aware of the history to this, as normally fitting a RCL kit is very straight forward, so if people dont know the history to this thread, they will keep telling you to look at the guides etc :bang: which wont necessarily help you.

Hi Alan thanks for the reply. I'm connecting the unlock wire to a purple wire in the black connector. Its pin number 24 that I've connected to. I have checked that its made a clean connection and it has.

Thanks

Hi mate,

You want the Light Blue and Purple wire for the unlock signal.

Hi great news Alan I've now connected to the correct lock and unlock wires. But the remote locking kit isn't still unlocking or locking.

When I touch the crimp connector on the lock it locks the doors and when I touch the unlock it unlocks.

But when I touch the cable that goes into the remote locking kit at the kit end nothing happens.

Thanks

Re: Hawk remote locking not working

EXCELLENT! your getting there! (y)

Ok... so we now know we have the correct cables and our connections are good!!

So... if you connect the YELLOW cable from the RCL unit to your earth bolt.... and then connect the WHITE cable from your RCL unit to the white and green cable on the cars loom, and THEN press the lock button.... do the doors lock?

No nothing happens even when I connect a wire between my earth and the white cable at the end of this connector nothing is happening. I've attached a picture of the connector its the part that plugs into the remote locking. Why doesn't it lock/unlock my doors like it does at the crimp connector?

Thanks
Russ

Re: Hawk remote locking not working

Ok cool,

This is a good thing believe it or not, as by testing it the way you have PROVES its a connection problem between the white cable and the green and white lock cable.

We know its NOT the RCL kit, because you have by passed it by testing it putting earth direct to the white cable above.

We know its NOT the car because you have tested that using the cable connected to earth and touching the green/white cable.

Have you got a photo of the connection of the white cable to the green and white car cable?

I'm using these blue ones : http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-snap-lock-connecter-blue-l30ay

Re: Hawk remote locking not working

Excellent,

So when you were doing your testing, were you touching the earth cable onto the metal bridge thats underneath the little flap on the connector? And this was causing the doors to lock?

And now when you touch the earth cable to the white cable at the white connector end, nothing happens?

If the above is the case, then its likely that the connector hasn't cut into the end of the white cable correctly. Therefore the next step would be to remove the connector (you can do this by using a pair of pliers to pull the metal bridge straight up and out of the connector)

Then manually connect the two cables.

These particular type of connectors arent the best for making reliable connections, that why i always prefer to solder them. These connectors often either dont fully cut through the insulation (meaning no connection) or completely cut through the cable (meaning no connection)
