Ultra low emission zone. Bit like los angeles where they hammer high polluting vehicles. Cities all over the UK are now charging for entering city centre in an effort to clean the air if you have an older car.
Yep A TAX ON THE POOR!

New tyres on the Panda yesterday morning. Had caught a puncture in one rear, too close to the wear limit to be a viable repair, front ones, although good were getting old, and noticeably less flexible. Downside of previously swapping summer/winter, as they all get old before they wear out.
So a full set of all-seasons. Kormoran, via Etyres. £270 fitted with valves and balance. Kormoran are apparently owned by Michelin, so should be reasonable. Panda unlikely to overpower them. Choice is limited in 155/80 13. Had originally chosen Uniroyal, but stock level lied. Poor guy called to say they had one only, could get another late March, and no promise on two more. Cancelled that and started again.

Delivered car to tyre shop at bottom of road. "Could be an hour", she said. I'm thinking I could do it in abut 30 minutes, but they do have to fit it in with other stuff of course. So walked the 200 yards home, had a cup of tea. 30 minutes, phone call to say done.

Did the shopping trip with it, then later a longer trip to Chippenham and back. Just over 100 miles total, so far very happy. They feel more flexible, highlighting the old tyres age hardening. Quite quiet. Happy days. Tread pattern looks like it belongs on a supercar. Ideas above their station on the Panda.

My knee scooter, aka The Evil One, has been retrieved from the garage attic. We are getting reacquainted. Except for answering the call of nature, it beats the hell out of crutches. I'm more able to do simple things like make a cuppa and carry it from the kitchen to the living room. I've been able to load and unload the dishwasher. Loading the clothes washer is a bit of a pain, but less so than moving wet clothes from the washer to the dryer. What I cannot do is climb stairs. Yet. The world's most comfortable couch is in our living room, so that's my bed until I can climb stairs again.

Buster is a bit pissed because we aren't doing our morning walk. He's doing his walks with Mrs.Cheest but she doesn't go into the wilds where I go so he doesn't get to sniff the sniffs.

I get my hard cast tomorrow morning. Not too fond of this temp thing on my ankle.

May not just be age hardening, all seasons tend to be a more flexible compound. Remember putting ours on and the car over things like expansion gaps was a definite improvement.

Only downside is in my experience they can hoover up anything pointy as a result.

The directional tread pattern does look quite aggressive on ours...though looking at the Kormoran it's a smooth rounded shape not a sharp V cut...very odd indeed.

What the hell is a knee scooter!?!

No day is wasted if you can learn something!! :giggle:
Have personal experience of these, when I damaged my ankle some years ago. Granddaughter thought it was hilarious, (I had the first type, and she kept calling me 'grandad peg-leg!! :ROFLMAO:)
It’s the first time I’ve ever come across them…I think I’d stick to crutches

Thats wwhere they put you in a rigid cast from the neck down :ROFLMAO:
Seriously Take care and dont overload it. That Buster is a lucky chap!

Down my way, by the time I actually got into a Doctors surgery for assessment, never mind being supplied a "Knee scooter" the chances are more likely that I have died of old age.:(
Medical care in the US is second to none, it is also the fastest way to bankruptcy if you don't have good insurance. It's very expensive.

My wife and I are on Medicare, which is a program that we've paid into beginning with our very first paycheck as teenagers. We get to take advantage of it after age 65. It's not bad, it's not great. Stuff not covered; meds, vision, dental, etc, require what's called 'supplemental insurance' through a private company.

My trip to the ER Thursday wasn't bad. We got there about 9pm and were back home, with the soft cast on my ankle, by 11:30. Having a broken bone moves you up on the triage list. On Easter Sunday, 2016, I went into the ER with back spasms so bad I couldn't sit. Because I didn't have any broken bones, was bleeding copiously, or in the middle of a heart attack, I was there 6 hours before I saw a doctor.

Scandalously expensive. I had a florida hospital chase me for $57,000 for a few years. Had to go infor treatment when on holiday, fully insured, handed over all details, no problem.
Got back home and then got a bill for $57,000. I spoke to the insurance and they said the real bill was $71,000, but they know the hospitals are it at, and the same treatment for a local person is $14,000. So they paid $14,000 as a fair price, the hospital says I was still owing the remainder.

I understand completely. My 8 hour visit to an ER after I got hit by a car was around $38,000. The hospital sicced a collection agency on me because the insurance company of the person that clobbered me was dragging their feet and slow to pay. I ended up getting a lawyer to get it straightened out.
