What's made you not grumpy but not smile either today?

I now have a picture in my head, of a bicycle on each side of the canal, being ridden by one person, with very long bandy legs. Hopefully a narrow canal.:D

Aye Bill:D just for clarification to get rid of that picture, I went up one side of the canal to Dochgarroch, coffee and a goody, then back over one of the lock gates and down the other side….:)

So glad you cleared that one up for us!

PS cheery wave from my friend with the gate latch problem and he didn't come to the door so my guess would be he's got it done.

Been a L o n g week

Have thought my punto TA might be struggling a little

Twice now.. when its been parked for 10 days.. and I try and start it in the HOT conditions @25'c+

It starts instantly but stumbles and stalls
Then runs perfectly on the restart...

Found out today the S:S system is still 'alive' it restarted after stalling in traffic

Still on the 2012 factory battery (y)

Temporarily had my hands on some of the new plastic £20 notes. More horrid that the £10 & £5, if that's possible. Only had them for about 10 minutes, not looking forward to more.

Then spent my last paper one a little later.

I’ve heard stories that some people are losing the twenty note out of pockets as they slide up and make their way out when walking.

That sounds like a Daily Mail 'story'.
Sometimes I wonder though, why even carry cash these days?
I can't remember the last time I used an ATM, and until recently I had to cross the border to visit my nearest bank branch so that wasn't happening. Just pay with the card all the time.

It is the plastic notes that do this. First reported after the introduction of the plastic £5. At that time I had one £5 note try to escape, caught it in time. When spending a large note, receiving smaller notes in change, I'd often just stuff them into a pocket, to transfer to the wallet later, but after that, always take the time to stow them properly. I've seen a few £5 notes on the ground too, presumably lost from pockets. Luckily, all have been in shops, so could hand them to a cashier, for them to make the difficult moral decision about whether to keep it, hold to see if anyone asks, or stuff it in a charity box.

I still use a little bit of cash. Our favourite chip shop is still cash only, and the farm shop for the eggs is too. My partner has a hairdresser visit home, so that's cash.
I used to take a fair amount of cash from learners, but having given them up for mostly fleet work, after 2 years I've used the stash, so may have to visit an ATM soon.

4 days ago, I saw a 56 reg BMW 1-series just stopped with a puncture. Four young people on board.
The car is still there today, looking abandoned.

No spare in them, most, but not all are on runflats, so expensive tyres.

I'm guessing a young guy, bought his BMW, but cannot afford tyres or breakdown cover. No tools or friends capable of removing the wheel and taking it to a tyre shop, there are two less than a mile away.

Cheap BMW anyone? Buyer collects.

Perhaps, but it was my wife who highlighted this to me. A friend of hers bought a second hand chest of drawers for 40 quid. Two 20 notes in her pocket on her way to pick up the chest and said notes were indeed making their way up her pocket, she had to continually keep a check on them. A Facebook user, she shared this with others, similar stories were exchanged.

I use cash to pay for my newspaper, picked up locally from the used to be PO. Pop the cash weekly into box in an envelope. Village life, easy and laid back. :)

Thought I'd donate one of my lesser lego models as I got a digger from "him" for fathers day and he's fascinated by the trucks and diggers on the building site.

Loves loading it then with the digger and activating the tipper..

Small problem..

That's more than either my Arocs or Defender would cost to replace..Clearly I chose poorly!

S/S will always trigger if you stall no matter battery condition, if the car is able to start it will try. My 2013 was on its original battery S/S would never trigger when coming to a stop until I replaced it with a new AGM battery because I wanted S/S. It still didn't work properly though, the sensor had to be regularly unplugged and replugged or it'd just stop working again

Stop asking whats made me grumpy. Im always bloody well grumpy. Its just a matter of degrees of grumpiness.

Today my kidney stent is playing up I'm at a 7/10 grumpy score oscillating to 10 or 11 at times!

I have too much to do and cant do any of it so I am

GRUMPY

Meccano was always my "thing", until I was given one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnWhfq-T9cE then I moved on to control line flying. I'd have loved one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9-weExLUA8. Then it was Motor bikes - still a passion - and then Cars.

PS not sure where the old horticultural machines fit into this timeline, they've always been an interest.

Oy.... you dont sound grumpy! Why not

Its JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!

GET GRUMPY NOW

Nah, being "grumpy" is just a waste of time! I do sometimes feel p****d off but I always remember my mother quoting Ella Wilcox "Solitude" to me and she's absolutely right (look it up). So even if you're feeling very grumpy, look positive and put a smile on your face and, generally speaking, good things happen. Mrs J says that, if she outlives me, she's going to play Monty Pythons "Always look on the bright side" at my funeral.

PS Really sorry to hear about the kidney, must be hard to smile with that

regards
Jock
