well if could not get worse. 11-30ish last night funny noise in the kitchen sheba the dog had had a heart attack and has died what with the wife having lost her memory and now the dog who saved her life in the first place.what next only good thing the panda keeps me going 63mile round trip to see her thats life mowermender70
Im very very sorry to hear of your troubles. Like the others I don't know what to say. My only add on is think about a new dog when you get time. I know its a bbrutal comment at this time, but a canine companion at a time like this is worth such a lot. At least Sheba went quickly. I know how I feel about our (my daughters) dog and this news is awful. I really hope life gets a more tolerable balance back for you soon. My family all send you their sympathies and best wishes.

Seeing as we have a happy version... and I'm having a crap day (like a few others on here)...

My reasons are:

I feel ill, I'm stuck at work, my love life is all a bit complicated, my ex is trying to scam me out of my money, I'm not hugely rich at the moment, I've a punctured rear tyre on my bike, I'm knackered and thats about it:(

What's made your day crap?
Two dogs ran right up to me barking and growling - and the owner did sod all to stop them.
He got some angry barking from me at close quarters...

We had a puppy one time that was barking a lot , so I got down on my knees and growled and barked loudly, it pi**ed it's self so I wasn't popular:)

Do that to ours and he will just lick your chops LOL Dogs running at you and barking. with no owner action is not acceptable though. Even small dogs doing this is intimidating, and its unnecesary as far as Im concerned.

Some years ago I went into a customers house with an invoice after working on their car as I had done many times before, this time as usually both Weimaraner dogs came running in but one decided to jump up at me and try to bite my upper arm, the owner pulled it off and no lasting damage, a few days later it sadly died apparently from a brain issue, so nothing at all to do with what it was trying to eat;)

You would say that though LOL

Youngest grandaughter was very frightened by an incident like this. They were not used to dogs and the way they behave. To this day you can see how nervous she still is when a "strange", that is unknown, dog gets even slightly excited around her.

Understandable, but the trouble is the dogs sense it.:(
Absolutely. I'm pleased to see she's much more relaxed now around my daughter's labradoodle, even happy to snuggle in and give her a hug (the dog's female and a real "softy" - have to keep her away from Cats though!

my i thank all of you for the kindness you all have given me over this checking through paper work found letters from the doctors its the date 2years ago we both went and had the 2jabs will not look forward to tomorrow thats the start of the problem thats life have told my self KEEP GOING mowermender70

Years ago I was furious with my dad over dogs. My daughter was with him and he went to see his new ladyfriend's family. They all thought it was funny that my daughter was scared of the akita they had. There are some dogs you can natrually trust, and some you cant, and the akita is definitely an untrustworthy one.

I like animals and we grew up with them and have had loads over the years, however I am happy on my own now:)
Although saying that one of my daughters returned her cat to me, which had been living wild for around two years due to their Cocker poo putting it's nose out of joint, it still lives "wild" but near my address now so it comes in , eats some food and goes off again, I learnt it does the same thing with half the neighbours in my road, so it has got it sussed.;)

Some make you more wary I agree, but in the end any animal can turn nasty so it is always wise to consider that, big or small.

I have had dogs pretty much my whole life, I grew up with them at home and when I had my own place I went out and got a dog when I was 23, and have had dogs constantly ever since.

We have 2 at the moment, both Jack Russell crosses, both will bark like lunatics if anyone comes to the door but they don't actually know what to do if someone comes in the door, one is excited to meet new people, the other will run away and hide or stay behind me.

One I would trust to the end of time, has never shown an ounce of aggression toward anyone, never so much as bared her teeth, and barking at the door is due to excitement more than anything.

The other which has Chihuahua in it, is very yappy, has been aggressive, is quite nervous generally and I would never 100% trust her, that said she has bonded with our 2 year old and I suspect as he is now one of her pack she would defend him viciously if anything or anyone threatened him. So while I now trust her around him mostly, I would still not trust her around other people.

Wow, never heard of anything like that before.

They struggle to reach your knee, you wonder just how.

No one has ever been maulled to death by a dachund or or any other small dog.
Actually babies have been killed by small dogs, but normally due to parents neglect in leaving them unsupervised in my opinion.
When you see any dog "playing" with it's toy shaking and biting it, then it would be easy to see what could happen to a small child, sadly it is not unheard of.:(

terriers shake as a matter of instinct to kill things, they are too small to take something down or have that really strong bite of something bigger but they can snap a neck or spine with a good shake and bash it on the floor a few times.

Also dogs instinctually go for the throat, and a lucky strike even from a small dog can open a vein or artery in the neck and its game over.
In the wild and in packs female dogs will lay over the throats of their males if threatened to try to protect them against aggressors, one of my dogs does this, she will try and sit up on your chest, and if she can lay over your neck when you're just sat watching TV.
