I moved from Scottish Gas/Electric to Avro because of escalating prices - they were good but Im now with Pure Planet and find them even better

Yes - Ive had 3 trouble free years with Avro

But being a small outfit ..they can only do 'dual-fuel' = gas + electric

No Economy 7.. possibly no prepayment either :(

Green Network had been issue free.. but couldnt answer the phone at renewal time

Currently switched to the Uk cheapest.. reviews were poor.. (customer service issues) but opt out fee is £30
The annual savings quoted at £350
made it worth a punt.. but the CS are indeed lousy

Can get £80 discount as a 'new account'
back with Green Network ;)

Hmmm. An electrician friend of mine, quite clued up with all this stuff, told me never to opt for the Economy 7 option as he saw it as an outright con and that most folk would be far better off with the cheapest tariff on offer by any given company.

In every case whether switching supplier or not, ALWAYS put them on the spot and ask outright if you are on the cheapest tariff!

But drive wise. I do love it. It has more than enough power for its size and for me. On a long journey it is much easier and relaxing as I can set it on to a speed or limit it and forget about monitoring the instrument cluster on open roads.

There's definitely something to be said for a small car with a good chunk of power in it.

Doesn't have to be hot hatch fast but having had the 16v mk1, Suzuki Swift 1.5 and now the C3 (DS3 was 90 bhp boo!) it's just better.

Combines best bits of a small car with being able to overtake things and cruising on the motorway for long periods without feeling like the engine is going to pop.

That and having 2 passengers on board doesn't half your acceleration and increase your stopping distance noticeably.

Mainly being able to go on fast roads without beating the crap out of it to not be a rolling road block.

Martyn Lewis comparisons

Otherwise I would never have found Avro :)

E7 is a chore..
Its awkward .. but having 85% of consumption off.peak
E7 should be cheapest

New fridge freezer arrived at 7.15 pm. :rolleyes:Was all ready, old one on the pavement for collection. Two old geezers managed into house, double doors at rear. Spent the next hour unpacking and setting up :bang: I consider myself handy in the DIY department but what a fanny about simply trying to figure out connecting to my already water supply. Finally clicked, there was extra stuff that wasn’t needed. Off with lower grill and on with water tube. No biggy but the knees ain’t what they used to be, neither is the eye sight :D Of course I didn’t help proceedings on asking Mrs J to hand me torch, screwdriver, heavy duty scissors. Turn on in a few hours.

Red wine time....:D

Forgot to mention having to take the large heavy gate off it’s hinges to allow more room for the fridge freezer getting through, not a problem, it slots over two poles top and bottom BUT :bang: trying to reattach the gate in the dark is not that easy. I had to ask my wife for help with a torch. It’s quite surprising what words and phrases were exchanged between us :eek:It was just spur of the moment comments  The gate slid on eventually :D

Things at the moment seem to be magnified, small little problems are amplified.

From 87-95 we had a small house with just two storage heaters, heated overnight on Economy7 tariff. House was warm 24/7 and quite cheap.

With all electricity used during those seven hours at the cheap rate, we had timers on dishwasher and washing machine, set them up at night, they'd come on to be ready just befor ewe got up. Worked well.

Many people with electric cars are opting for Economy7, making charging much cheaper, so we may see an increase of this tariff, but if usage increases over a threshold, the savings may disappear. After all, it was created to allow power stations to keep running gently overnight and be ready for the mass get-up in the morning.

Thats a very good point Bill. I think you're quite right that the savings will disappear for overnight use of electric.
I remember the storage heaters; my parents introduced them in an old Herefordshire black and white cottage. But I also remember getting up in the morning before those heaters arrived!

As for running washing machines overnight, I'm not a huge fan of doing that anymore having had one fire!

Fecking Hypnos mattresses making me grumpy, they seem to brand them to individual sellers so you cant price compare them

Yep.. Silentnight are like that too..

Looked to order a new double..
but cheapest seller wouldnt take away old one.. and Council services are messed up.. so have waited

Grump from yesterday... Phoned up to ask about a courtesy car when I drop the DS off.... (hard to get anyone on the street to give me a lift down given CV19).

“Your car is booked in today?” - told them the details. Apparently not booked in.

The guy who runs the dealerships Facebook page apparently hasn’t told anybody at the actual workshop......... :bang:

Oh well, car for another week. And they confirmed they would give me a courtesy car which was handy! ....but will it be my old Panda? Fingers crossed :D

So not all bad. Just unprofessional.

Over the last couple of days, occasionally when moving to the next page of a thread, I get a full page advert pop up. Really very annoying.
Clicking the 'X' to dispose of the advert then moves me back to the first post of the thread, rather than the last position that I was at. Even more annoying.

Is this just me? Or is this a FF thing now? Whatever, it is not working, as I'm only interested in getting rid as it pops up, and have no recollection of any of the products advertised.

Aye, I’m the same, bit of a pain.
