Possibly a backlash in response to smoke free zones?
No, just youth plonkers normally with aggressive beards, tattoos of anchors or something.

A vape shop opened next to my favourite music store, and the vapours that entered the music place were horrendous! It made the shop stink!! In the end, after many complaints, they started keeping their door closed. The town nearest to me is fairly small, yet has 2 e-vaping shops!!!! :/
They're bloody everywhere now.
I don't know how they make enough to keep going, it's like a news agents that only sells cigarettes you just couldn't make it work long term and I think a lot of these shops will be the same.
Vaping, one of those trends with no logic behind it.. personally I don't see why this hasn't been invented yet. 3-in-1

I think vaping is a good idea if used for the intended manner, but I get the impression that rather than using it to kick the nicotine addiction, a lot of people just use it as a slightly cheaper, tastier, less restrictive alternative to smoking. :/
That's so true.
I know people who would never have smoked but actually started vaping!?

I used to smoke quite a lot in the past but quit completely in 2008. I would probably struggle now to quit as I'd have ended up shifting to e-cigs or these vape things and not given up.
The bonus of normal cigarettes is they don't need charging and they don't explode in your face or burn your house down when left on charge over nights.
But then again I'm sure there's been many a house burnt down due to an ashtray fire or something bizarre like that!
I see so many people my age smoking insane amounts every day claiming 'they tried to give up' but couldn't and honestly they just don't see the damage it's doing. Mostly because it seems to come out in older age before anybody seems to do anything about it! Sometimes it's too late.
I'm glad to hear you were able to give it up. I understand it's pretty damn hard to kick. But when you think about how valuable you are to friends, family etc I suppose that puts the habit into perspective worth fighting!

Not meaning to sound big headed, but I'm genuinely proud of the fact I've never tried a cigarette.
That's fair enough. I haven't either and can't say it's something that I'm bothered on, full stop. Don't really drink or anything either. You can imagine how fun I am.
It does seem like trend-following and social smoking account for a significant number of people who do it nowadays!

I must admit, I'm genuinely baffled by the cavalier attitude of some smokers: they say about how it doesn't necessarily mean that they will suffer health problems, and that it is possible to die of cancer without smoking. That is true, but it still massively increases the risk!!
Had a diaster today,
took the elderly car for an MOT..,
fuel gauge had been saying odd things since the winter lay-up.. but had made sense of how it now read..
approx; bottom half in GAUGE meant TOP 50% of tanks capacity, then the blinking "low fuel light" would cut in progressively for a LONG period.. at least 1.5 hours driving..
day before test;
no gauge..and just the odd flicker of the lamp ( over bumps) , put an additional gallon can in for the relatively short trip.,
leave car at MOT place, go for a 30 min each way walk.. get to the farthest point.. phone goes.. it's passed emissions then just STOPPED..
" it says no fuel" - so of course I ask if fuel light is on..?
no it's not.. oh it must be something else.. I'm on my way back.. or course test is abandoned in the following 15 mins.. I tried.. no luck.. so popped the bonnet ,
the aftermarket clear fuel filter is EMPTY..
so a wasted afternoon , a partial test fee,
no retest bookable for 2 weeks, and 1.5 hours of walking.. then a lot of faffing to repatriate the car.. which started quicker than ever on refuelling.. oddly didn't need priming..??
one small highlight.. got a business card for THIS left on the seat..

The law on these things changed last year. Since the 22nd May this year it has been illegal to sell devices with tanks larger than 2ml, Refils larger than 10ml and a ban on certain ingredients including colour and caffine.
Unfortunatly it seems no one has told ebay......

Going back several years now, someone I knew was a smoker, but they bought a mk2 Renault Megane, largely for its Euro NCAP result: they were seemingly unconcerned about their long term health, yet wanted to maximise their chances of survival in the event of a crash. Bizarre!
Everyone goes on about lung cancer as the main problem and every smoker will give you a dozen names of people who smoked till they died of other causes at a ripe old age..
However smoking doesn't just cause lung cancer and is linked with dozens of cancers from mouth to bowel.
Then of course there are the heart problems and circulatory problems. Blood not getting to your legs and causing horrific pain every time you walk (clarification) is not a fun way to live out your days when you don't die of lung cancer.
Heart attacks, stroke, again smoking isn't much fun when you can't use one whole side of your body.
Then there are the lung conditions like COPD which take your life away without actually killing you.
Finally there are other problems cause by smoking for example if you break an arm and you can't work, smoking help you take twice as long to repair that bone as a non smoker! Depending how you look at it, it's twice as long off work or twice as long without pay, and with a much higher risk of complications such as it not healing properly at all.
Now there is a psychology that goes with these things as again it's one of denying the bad and holding up the odd positive example. It's very difficult to break a smokers beliefs otherwise they will have already given up.
The thing about a car crash is the health costs are a bit more immediate if you do have an accident, and it also gives bragging rights down the pub.
The way I see it is like this, there are so many people born with horrible, unfortunate conditions and such and had no choice in the matter..
Then there's people like I know. They smoke and drink to excess. Do weed and other types of drugs etc and think it's fine. They are otherwise born healthy, fit and otherwise intelligent. They don't see the value in their health.
It's those people with their early morning bar fight injuries landing at the A&E and self inflicted broken bones / Lung cancer / liver failure clogging up the NHS that makes it so over stretched that those unfortunate enough to be born with terrible conditions don't get the care or service they need.

I'm not sure the statement that smoking 'causes' cancer is correct, but I am sure that anyone who I susceptible to cancer will make it far more likely if they smoke. Once cancer is present, smoking will make it worse. There are of course some stories about people who smoked all their life and died of natural causes. My grandfather started smoking at 14, smoked unfiltered cigarettes until into his 70s, lived to his early nineties, but then did die of a smoking related illness. Always had yellow fingers and smelt like an ashtray.
Always makes me wonder when I see someone taking a big drag on a cigarette, then becoming almost helpless with coughing. Do they really not see the cause-effect there?
