Today Ladies and Gentlemen (And everything inbetween), I achieved 51mpg in a Fiat Panda 4x4. With the help of cruise control at 50mph on a long'ish drive, my tank went from a 300 mile range to a 440 ish range.

It still told me I was running out of fuel at 1/3rd marker on the gauge, and then, at 35 miles left range went to the "-- --" marker, so you've no idea if you've only got 200 meters of gas left, leaving you hyperventilate hoping to see a petrol station close by...

I think all the modern Fiat's do that as my Panda range goes blank at 35 miles & my dad's Punto does it at about 40-45 miles range. I know that with the Panda's when it's literally about to run out of fuel it makes the same beep sound as when the door isn't shut properly & comes up warning low fuel on the LCD screen between the dials

That is really good to know!

Running out of fuel is the ultimate failure in life for me. I'd have to hand in my man card and become a cyclist... 😂

Itchy bum time tomorrow, mechanic doing cambelt/waterpump.
please let me know how much it costs. I have this plus repairing cross threaded plu and possibly a head gasket to do... An idea of the base cost would be useful. Im booke din for 3rd Jan.

When it goes to ---- you will still do at least 50 miles with care. The tank holds more than they let on as well I have put more than 35 litres in on more than one occasion.

It's aftermarket.
I can well recommend an exceptional post written by a literary author, and electrical expert, and coincidentally, the most modest guy in the world:

But seriously, I'm a screwdriver speshmundo, if I can fit it, anyone can!

It’s been stood for two years, turned it over by hand, checked the belts, pressure washed the mouse nest and droppings out of battery tray, put a battery on, checked levels and fired up the starter…nothing, no fuel, no spark…lots of chewed wiring

£430 at an indy
Thanks, I should have read the whole thread... It could be worse. I think Im going to have the head gasket done at the same time unless they find a water leak elsewhere as its definitely using small amounts.

Was on the way home tonight in the snow after meeting up with a couple of mates & as I was turning into our road with caution the Panda slid on black ice & had a sudden incounter with a high curb resulting in a slightly scuffed bumper & a badly bent rim beyond repair with a broken wheel trim. This is where I prefer old cars as with a Mini I hit a bank at 60mph & only repair needed was a hammer & doly on the front valance which took about half hour & cost nothing. Certainly wouldn't of had a knackered rim with a very low speed impact 😖
