I'm waitng for them to call me back. The third year of the warranty seems to be a joke - quote from the service book "the 3rd year Fiatcare Warranty is almost as comprehensive in its coverage as the 24 month vehicle warranty..." Apparaently not! I cannot find anywhere in my documentation (and I think I have everything) that lists these exclusions. Anybody else??

I have also checked the Fiat website which is just as vague it says "If your new Fiat should break down or suffer any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship, it is protected by a three year dealer warranty, which comprises of a 24 month unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and a 3rd year 60,000 mile dealer warranty." I would argue that a knackered door seal and a seat that doesn't fold as either faulty materials or poor workmanship. I've only tried to fold the seat over once and yes you guessed it, it didn't work! [V].

I will try and reason with them, then try the moral arguement about being 4 weeks out of the 24 months, if all else fails I'm never using a Fiat garage for servicing again, what's the point?

Anyway sorry for the ranting back on topic, the estimated costs to repair the door seal are £18.75 for the seal and £25 for the labour (half an hour labout I guess).

Lets hope the seal solves it, not wishing trouble upon you but seems people have the seal replaced and the noise returns in about a month.

The door seal replacement problem is probably 'cos a Fiat "specialist" has changed the seal, and done their usual sterling job of it! 5 Minutes furious labour, 25 minutes coffee break!

I bet that if you get the door seal and fit it yourself the noise will never come back!

Mine was cheap to buy, is cheap to run, but is a pain in the plumbs to get fixed!

Anyone else seen that new Arnold Clark advert, with the real Arnold Clark (with a comb over from the nape of his neck!) saying he goes that extra mile........ the advert ends/cuts before he finishes "for our customers we go that extra mile....... to make their lives a living mysery!"

My car is booked back in on the 17th, they wanted to book it in the start of this week, but i've not been returning their calls, why should i be civil with them when they can't be polite with me! Still got the fookers to give me a courtesy car, i dare them to give it to me with no fuel, 'cos i won't be putting a drop in it, i'll drive it until it stops, and then go radge at them on the phone! [:(!]

Pretty much everything its been on for on the previous 3 occasions, minus the bits they can't be fooked doing that i keep asking about (door seal, and flashing indicators).

Replacing the interior central air vent, for the 3rd time now! (replaced broken one, replaced good one with broken one, and now replacing broken one again.... numpties). Fixing one non-functioning interior light (one of the rear ones) by replacing the drivers door ECU. Passenger door latch (passenger door card, incase they fook it up and have to force the door card).

Wonder what else they'll screw up whilst its in getting fixed, 'cos they'll have only a couple of days to fix it, 'cos i'm off to Alton Towers in a fortnight!

I reckon I know where my wind noise comes from. Where the Drivers window does up the black bit of plastic at the top left corner when you look from the outside is not tight against the window for about the last cm, it can be pressed against the window(the seal bit connected to the tougher black plastic), yet on the passenger side it is tight against the window. Looking at it I could force a little wedge down the frame and this will push it tight against the window.

If I took it in to be fixed and they fitted a new window rubber it'd be 50/50% whether the dealer would fit it any better or make matters worse!

cmc,

Been to the dealers at lunch and apparently my new cluster is due in on 18th so should hopefully get it fitted 26th/27th as got a few days off.

Wind noise is now worse than before since the door was adjusted (kicks in about 45mph now) so they will also look at that again whilst it's in.

Will let you know how I get on...

Thats why I'm putting up with my small wind noise problem as previous dealer experience tells me they will make it worse!

What did they do move the door and not change seal?

when no surprise I never heard from Fiat UK - no phone call as promised so first thing tomorrow I'm going to call them. That's good news on the cluster, I've been away all week, so thanks for letting me know (at least someone does :D)

my car goes in tomorrow for the new instrument cluster (at last after waiting 10 weeks for the part to come in!

I also had a blazing row with Fiat UK and Fiat Italy re door seals and seat failing to recline. The short of it is that they will cover the inoperative folding rear seat under the warranty they've decided but not the door seal (which I'll buy myself for £18.75 and my fix is going to fix). Oh well, a bit of satisfaction anyway.
