Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 02/07/07 Undersealed and cleaned!

that thing ain't ever gonna corrode! its only when you see those last few pics with all the new brake's and hoses, and clean springs and completly minty fresh wheel archs do you realise its basically a brand new unoT, but one that won't be falling apart atall in the near future, good work (y)

ahhh cheers mate :D must say, im overall very very pleased :) and hopefully its not gonna rot away soon! lol

anal i know but is that the drivers footwell scratching as you have no mat/padding?

hehe, well sort of yeah and no. ive got a mat but its got some fixings underneath cos its got a heal plate attatched to the mat. also its been scratched when ive not used the mat.

but im not too fussed, like i said from the begining, i want it to be tidy and rust free, but ive deffo built this UT to use :)

Could you post up some pics of your front suspension ?

How they are bolted in the top and how they look out in the wheel arches !

Many thanks !(y)

Great car you have build, can't wait till mines finished !

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 02/07/07 Undersealed and cleaned!

well, just to let you all know, i decided cos the box was crunching in 3rd and the clutch was slipping cos my flywheel wasnt matched up to it i stripped it all off.

so with the UT in bits again, i took the paddle clutch and my lightened/balanced flywheel down to the bloke who made my paddle clutch and got it sorted. he skimmed my flywheel, mated it up to my paddle clutch (which he made in the first place), set all the pre load correctly, matched up the release bearing to it all, so thats all good to go!

ive noticed that my box has a crack in the case, so i whipped my spare box off the spare engine, and fitted that along with my paddle clutch, newly skimmed flywheel and put the whole car back together.....

.....BUT............

......ive just been to finish it off, and ive got a nasty noise in my box when on tick over and trying to move :( guess the spare box is buggered :( didnt know the condition of it as it came with the engine, but we thought it was worth a shot! ahhhh well!

Gonna send it off for a rebuild and get a LSD put in so i can get the power down better ;)

just thought id keep you all updated!

bit gutted as i was going to get it setup on friday on the rolling road! :(

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 02/07/07 Undersealed and cleaned!

hi there, the UT is actually MOTed, Taxed and insured, but im having ALOT of box / clutch probs! just put it all back together and now the release bearing is making an awful noise so the box has got to come off again GRRRRR thats the 8th time now!!!!!! getting so fed up! lol

the GTT van has taken a turn for the worse.....well, ive not finished it, but ive sold most of it off as i got offered alot of cash for parts i paid peanuts for :D, just got to strip the engine out this weekend and then the bare shell is off to the scrappers :D

should be pisking up a nice newer car soon. a ibiza cupra turbo on a 02 ish plate im looking for. engines are sooooo tunable and yet i'll have a nice new car to drive :D

why dont you just go to a1 hydralics in leicester cost you about £50 for the fuel proof braided hoses and crimped on connections + they wont be multi coloured lol

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 02/07/07 Undersealed and cleaned!

Oh yes they mount up price wise rapidly, I think my send line was 90 quid maybe more alone. I am tempted to change the steel oil ones to those Dunc, but damn they are so expensive!! But they look nice, and good when all put in tidy.

Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 29/10/07 Goodridge Fuel Connectors

OI Dunc... i know i havent around much (at all actually) lately, but get off yer ass n get it sorted man!!!

whats the score with the box, paddle clutch n flywheel??? all ok bar the release bearing now?

have you been and had the mapping done yet, or has that been postponed now until the new tanks in (looking lush by the way) and the box issues sorted?

if you were closer, id have headed over and done the box n clutch for ya... lol

keep up the progress fella, will drop you a line on msn at some point aswell mate
