My friends and family get annoyed with me because I don't like flying. I've tried it and I just don't like it. Does anyone feel the same or do you fly anywhere?
I'm always being told that I'm missing out on seeing all these amazing places in the world, but Frankie Boyle (comedian from 'Mock the Week') summed it up perfectly for me when he said;

"there's no where in the world I'm so desperate to see that I'm willing to be catapulted there at 500mph in a tin can full of other peoples farts"

for some reason i had this pop into my head

I Aint getting on no plane fool :p

Aye You Wont Catch Me Flying For A While Like Need To Pluck Up The Courage First I Hate It

if its mainland europe does the ferry/drive option not work?
i would just fly as its never bothered me

I hate flying too. Had to go to southern spain, and Italy through work. Meant 2 flights to spain and 4 flights to get to Italy.

I loved takeoff with the acceleration but apart from that I spent the whole flight making sure the wing I was sat next to didn't fall off. I left the other wing in someone elses care. :)

So.. when it comes to a holiday - I'll set off the night before and see you there. In fact with the length of time it takes to checkin then security then delayed flights - I'll be nearly there when you take off.

yeah exactly. if you're holidaying in Europe then ferry/driving is a perfectly reasonable way to travel.

i've never been on a passenger plane:eek: only thing i've plane i've flown in is a two seat dual control one:D though the wings were held on by tape:p

I'd take my tool chest & check plane over first before I'd get on it.......I know some of the guys that work on them!!

I used to work for a company who made parts for them.

Specifically stainless steel heat shields for the 737 reverse thrust system.

Can still remember the part numbers.. 99a9117m-02-sub-assy :D

I don't like flying because when I drive on motorways which is a lot like a long haul flight, I see a lot of cars parked up at the side with the bonnets open. Most likely they have broken down, some sort of undiagnosed engine failure.

Its fine in a car, just roll to a hault and phone someone to help.

WTF does a pilot do at 30,000 feet when that happens? Call the AA and tell em they have broken down above Ireland and could they be their as soon as poss because there is no where to park and the passengers are impatient? NO, they tell everyone to sit down put their seatbelts on?

That aint gonna stop us from hittin the fookin ground at more then 100mph now is it!

I only fly if I like.... really have to, and I don't really have to, I like England most of the time and England is small enough for me to drive round.

I will no doubt be going on holiday with the crew dem pretty soon though and then I'll have to get on one of them Engine powered planes
