Technical ticking noise/missfire

I have a strange ticking noise which seems to have just started, when it ticks there is a misfire, it's like the spark is jumping but seems too loud for that? I think it's outside the engine rather than in, its loudest to the right of the air filter.. any ideas?

spark plug lead arcing the sparks to the metal of engine..,
new leads will fix it,
run engine in dark.. you SHOULD see the blue flashes..,
worth checking the leads are on tight 1st..!!( wrap in PVC tape would do ok as a temporary repair)
