Hello, i have a 2010 Panda 1.3 Multijet that I got from my family.

The car is perfect and it suits all my needs but one… the noise coming from the dash on the passenger side (only above 90km/h).

I am mechanical noob, but I have seen an air vent under the hood and I suspect there may be a filter missing. Is this possible? I have attached pictures.

I know it is a cheap car, and the noise might be a feature, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Thank you.

AIr flow to the ventilation system enters the car under the scuttle. My car is petrol and so may be different. Its possible there is a rain guard missing that may be increasing the noise. The pollen filter if one is fitted is inside the cabin in the base of the centre console. Pandas are not quiet, but not massively noisy either. Check there are no missing rubber grommets in the bulk head behind the engine. Also check the windscreen is stil firmly glued in place!

It's hard to know, noise could be almost anything. Could you safely take a video when it happens?

I had a wheel balancing weight fall off once which caused resonance in the cabin above a certain speed - balancing the wheels fixed that.

Regards the air vent - does your car have air conditioning? I think it might only be cars with a/c that have cabin/pollen filter.
This member fitted their own filter to the vent you've identified: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/m...aying-hello-from-denmark.436690/#post-4157208
Might be worth doing, but I doubt it would be the source of much noise.

The only time I find my Panda loud is tyre noise on rough surfaces. At speed on a smooth surface there's a bit of wind noise but it's fairly quiet.

Tyres an make huge difference to road noise but so can worn wheel bearings. The latter are hard to diagnose. I had a Citroen BX where I was convinced needed a new front wheel bearing. It turned out to be a rear wheel. Thankfully a cheap fix.

Thank you for all the replies. As sugested, I had a ride with a friend, and he identified the area near the mirror adjustor.

It’s clear it has been damaged before. I tried to put that little foam around the wires to see if it gets better.

I also need to try something in the outer parte as it is bent due to some fixation foam and creates a path for airflow.

I posted the good side from the outside and the differences are clear.

I want to replace all 4 tyres. They are a bit worn but due to age, they are crusty and dry.

Any suggestions? I live in Portugal, so its mostly dry but some rainy weeks. I do road trips aswell. I would like a good and silent tyre.

Toyo nano energy are the best all rounder 155 80 R13 here in the UK and very hard to beat

Wet grip vs noise vs price vs wear

2db less than any other tyre with similar wet grip and cheaper

Yours 2010 multijet will be on bigger wheels

2db does not sound a lot but is a logarithmic scale and it adds up when x4
