While applying wd 40 to the shock absorber bolts ready to replace them I noticed the bump stop cones inside the coil springs were in place but could easily be pulled out and were not tight after waggling them a bit it seemed like this could be the source of the knocking/rattling or am I totally wrong TIA

Hello,

WD40 is not a magic solution, use penetraiting oil instead. I'm personally using cyclo's Break Away, it does miracles.

Replacing shocks and springs in my non-FIAT daily I've replaced everything, including the bump stops. Usually it's not an expensive part.

Hi vanper thanks for the info on penetrative oil I will get some I've been fortunate in taking the shocks off they gave up pretty easy just waiting for the shocks to arrive tomorrow offside is off so will fit that first the other side are loose but still in place so hopefully refitting should be ok
