Evening all,

I take the Panda on reasonably long journeys @300 mile and it's pretty good for a small car but the engine induction noise is bothersome unless I'm doing an indicated 80mph.
So, question, does the later 319 Panda have better sound insulation? Is there sound insulation under the bonnet?

Regards.

Wind and tyre noise are tiresome at higher speeds

The airbox is well designed there shouldn't be any induction noise?

Everything is reasonably okay until you get to over 50mph

There is something to be gained from tyre choice, depending on what's already fitted

Mine has no sound material under the bonnet, the fixing holes ar there, I suspect the insulation from a model that does (1.3 and 1.4 I believe) will just fit. I doubt the noise will alter much as Fiat would have fitted it,

No idea if the post 2012 are any better

An engine under tray considerably reduces road noise but adds hassle when you need to change the oil.

Under bonnet and around the rear boot can be lined with sound absorbent materials. You will need to research the best types. The self-stick rubberised mastic pads with help to avoid drumming of bonnet and door panels. There is little point elsewhere.

The boot and under rear seat area plastics are surprisingly complicated. Be VERY careful to not break any tabs. You will need a set of trim removal tools and forked trim pliers. Take car that parts fitted close to body panels are not obstructed by the sound stopping material.

The main floor carpet is moulded so putting special materials the the floor and firewall will be a big job but probably very effective.

There are specialists suppliers you will need to google and research the best options.

Probably the best if you gave the budget. https://www.nkgroup.co.uk/product/car-soundproofing-full-kit-no-engine-blanket/

This is heavily advert supported so probably light-weight info https://soundproofwiz.com/quiet-road-noise-in-car/
