I have the Radio Blocked / Wait message so I have tried leaving the ignition on but have found out the radio turns off after 20 minutes.
I have now disconnected the radio and hooked it up to a battery charger but it still turn off after 20 minutes. Is there anything else I can try or is the radio a lost cause?

You should be able to switch off the 20 minute mode via the menu button on the radio. Press "MENU" then scroll down to "RADIO OFF" using the up or down arrow. Then use the left or right arrow to change from "20 MIN" to "00 MIN".

You only need to press "MENU" once. Everything else is done with the arrow buttons.

Pressing menu once doesn't bring up the menu, I have tried this a few times.
