What i find weird, is the fact you seem to hop on the brakes, but been a bus it just seems to somewhat keep going....
I'd of smashed his rear hiney up

Try stopping something weighing double figure tonnage they take some stopping especially smoothly if you have a load of people onboard

Im a bus driver myself n I see stuff like this n worse everyday.
Is it wrong that I would have proceeded on takin the car out as as breaming that hard with passengers on puts them at risk an leaves u to blame due to the heavy breaking with could ultimately result in loseing your job. Whereas with such clear evidence of the driver cutting u up the fault would then be his. Plus it would make him think twice next time
I think it is true that majority of drivers don't have a clue - else why would they cut up lorries & buses. I think they base their actions on their own percieved stopping distances.Unfortunately car most car drivers dont realise the force involved to stop a bus as AM said especially saftly with passengers on. This video is not a one off it happens day in n day out on a regular basis to every bis driver. N yes indeed I to being a bus driver would have writen his car off for him
I'm used to air brakes but this old relic uses a big wooden pole with a lump of leather on the end. In a real emergency, there is an anchor.
Especially with the antiquated stopping system ^^^

I was on an update course recently & started this very discussion.
By jumping on the brakes, you could have everyone out of their seats (an object in motion remains in motion...). So, you could stop in plenty of time but find yourself on the end of an expensive legal battle for all the injuries.
Alternatively, you brake hard - not hard enough - and you come to rest impaled in the other vehicle. Everyone senses you are braking hard & can take action (brace for impact as it were). Instead of stopping quickly, your speed is greatly reduced by the time you make contact. Your passengers would be expecting impact. Theoretically, there should be less injury - just greater damage.
But then you also throw into the mix your own instinct for survival - remember, you are sat almost at the front of many tonnes of metal...
I tend to balance everything out. I'm carrying passengers who are often not in a position to brace themselves for impact (frail elderly, disabled...) - so I have to judge speed & braking force along with distances involved etc. Not something you calculate, you seem to just 'feel' it - and why it looks to take longer for me to stop.
Reminds me of this

Having a car with OEM Bi-Xenon HIDs now is great though, flash them with the main beams back and they really know about it!
