what do people do about windscreen glare?, looking at some of the driving footage from Mitcar and I appear to have allot of glare from the windscreen, I'm temped to try abit of window tint on the inside at the top of the window just in front on the lense, worth a try.

This is a real PITA. Ideally, you want the lens mounted as high as possible and as close to the screen as possible.

I was talking about this with a manufacturer and discussing the possibility of using an eyepiece shield - like those used on binoculars and camcorder viewers.
The only problem with this is the shield might not be big enough - so might cut the viewing angle of the lens from 140deg to ???

For now though, getting the cam as high and as close as possible should help.

Got an example

I don't think I get any.

Quite a bit of the lower portion of vid is reflection off the dash.

THEFT - YouTube

video also passed to the police.

If you compare my car clips to my bus clips, the F70 (car) is mounted far higher & closer to the screen. The bottom of the vid shows some bonnet. & there is still some reflection. The DR32 (bus) is mounted right beside the mirror & is as far from the screen due to crappy mounting system.
If I can find the angled USB from my old tomtom I'm going to try to bodge a mount to see if I can improve things. I may even try putting some sort of shield on the cam or lens.

Its at the top of my windscreen and as close as the mount provided allows (n)
the shield would be good yes. but at the same time for a £30 camera what can you expect! :/

Mine is as high up and flush with the screen but I still get reflections. Punto isn't as bad as the Bravo was. Think it depends on the windscreen.

I agree, but at the same time, a £300 camera has the same problems as a £30 cam.
Can't understand why the industry hasn't addressed this.

At the moment there's only a tiny handful of cams that can be mounted close enough. Some with dual, remote lenses & something like the Mobius.
I could get my dual cam much closer just that I mounted it in the same screw holes as my old cam & CBA to change.

was begining to wonder if anyone would ever post another video (y)
Although not really very 'random and what this thread is all about'.
Which is strange since the title of the thread is 'dash camera videos'

When they say things come in 3's

Here are my 3 stupid people for the day

Today driving drama 22Aug13 - YouTube

Ziggy

The idiot with the trailer also has major problems with his electrics - the trailer should indicate at the same time/frequency as the car & I notice the brake lights weren't in sync either.

Today's offering

I found the second scene interesting - I wrote the number plate down more or less straight away. When I checked online to make sure, it came back as a Merc!
Zoomed in as best I could & pretty sure I'm reading it correctly.

Still think a F70 is the better option for me
Cheaper, quality is still better then current, and it has Rear viewing too!

Ziggy

OMG the F90 + Rear view is out!
1080p as well!!

Its bigger, but i like it! Must resist! looks good on the photo's

Ziggy

double edit - 1080p @ 20fps..... ffs

You really must resist the urge as I am resisting the urge to buy a couple of mobius/mobiii/mobius' (? :D).
We are promised good things in the very near future. (and the F90 is enormous!)

Boy will I be truly hacked off if these great cams come with a premium pricetag.

I agree that the F70 is a great little cam. Quality isn't too bad - in fact, it's great for the price & it's a decent little unit to have as an intro to dashcams.

@MEP, well spotted.

For the eyepiece shield, I forsee some blue tack. Plastacine or draft excluder foam becoming used :)
