Hello together,

I have read this thread ... Is there really a procedure to reset the service of a stilo.
I'm very interested to get this information. I have two Can bus interfaces, one Mobydic and one selfmade USB2CAN interface.
Only the right information is missing, how to do that service reset.
I know, it is a hard work to figure out all these functions and I have no problem to donate some money to this board to support this work.

Thx

geer

Hello and welcome to the forum

Yes there is a procedure and it does work. The software is still in beta test and as far as I know it will not be released until the author is happy with it and it is secured for forum donators only.

As for interfaces the software currently supports the Elm327 v1.3 and also the PCAN interfaces.

Keep your eye on this thread it will be updated when ready im sure.

Ok here's an update on what’s happening.

I am currently putting the finishing touches to version 1 of the Fiat Stilo CAN Application that I have been developing. The main feature of this application is to reset the service light on the Fiat Stilo, this application will be available only to members f the Fiat Forum who have donated, have a post count of at least 100 and have not been Banned. The registration process is explained when the application is run, once I’m ready with version 1 I will announce it in this Thread, users who are entitled to use this software should then PM me with an email address and I will send a copy of the application to them.

Nice touch Philips - thanks for the effort (y)

Does the Stilo JTD have both a service reset and an oil change reset or just a scheduled service change where both normal service and oil change are done together.

Also when you are ready with Version 1 some more detailed info would be great as there is the possibility it will work with other Fiat cars besides the Stilo. A lot will depend on how generic Fiat have made the service interface.

It is known pretty much for sure it wont work on a grande punto, they use 29bit CAN rather than 11bit that the Stilo uses so the messages sent would be different.Any newer cars use a different implementation of CAN so doubt it would be that straightforward.

The same interface can be used to talk to the cars but it is the construction of the messages sent that are different - this is the difficult part.

Great but where do you hit the can bus to make it work I'm an engineer not a lecky :)

please explain what your on about to us uninitiated please

I've been following this thread for some time now, having found out that my Elm327 interface was a dodgy far east knock off (n) i've decided to go a different route and purchased a PCMCIA can card and am currentley in the process of writing an application in Labview to read, write, record etc the can messages.

Once the basic functions are sorted i'm hoping to adapt the application to perform the same functions as the application you guys have been working on. What I could do with at the moment is some of the can messgaes to perform the various functions, ideally I would like to include the service reset if anyone is willing to share the required messages to perform it.

I know this application won't be as useful as the one you guys are working on. However I have thought of a way we would could make the benefits of this available to more members. We could offer service resets to members in our local area's as i'm sure between the people with the required hardware we cover a large area of the country (or at events). This could be potentially offered free to donating members or for a fee (donated to the forum). I'd be willing to help out with this once i've got the application sorted, but let me know what the rest of you think.

All help appreciated.

Hi DazzaM,

I also initially purchased a knock off adapter from a seller on eBay unknowingly (n) before buying a bluetooth adapter with a genuine elm chip installed from Gendan.

This application hs been developed for use with the low cost elm interface, this is because most members already have access to one, there is also the option to use a PCAN interface but due to the cost not very many people have one (y)

All those involved in this project (myself, YellowStilo and danhans115) have put a lot of time and effort into getting as far as we have. I have already stated that once I am happy that the application is protected against piracy, I will release this software to qualifying members of this forum free of charge.

I will also create a version of this application that can be purchased by non qualifying members for a small fee, this will go a small way to covering the expenses involved in developing this application (I purchased the reset code and have spend a lot of my time) For this reason I'm not willing to share any codes with you, I hope you understand my reasons.

hi i wanted to integrate the "cluster sweep" on ignition on, like the motorcycles,

can i trigger this via can / lawicel can232?

Can you give me the codes?

I have now added the initial licensing protection to the Fiat Stilo software that I have written (y) and this has kindly been tested by yellostilo.

Before fully releasing the software to all eligible forum members I will release an initial version of the software to 10 senior eligible members, my definition of senior would be members who have made a lot of useful contributions and/or have been a member for a number of years.

So anyone who thinks they fit this criteria PM me and if I agree that you do fit into this criteria and are one of the first 10 I will email you a copy of the software complete with license.

The reason for the staged release is to ensure that if any issues remain  that I am unaware of, I can fix them before too many people have copies of the software

Here is a list of features currently available in the Stilo CAN application:

  1. Reset service reminder
  2. perform a dash board sweep
  3. sound warning beep
  4. elm terminal - allows direct communication with elm interface
  5. PCAN terminal - allows the sending and receiving of CAN messages using a PCAN interface
  6. allows the date and time to be set on vehicles that no longer have connect nav fitted

More features will be added into version 2, these might include functions such as proxi realignment

by the way, i sent you a message on your PLB mail adress regarding a licensing error 2 which was shown when i tried to use the latest test version for the second time.

I've had a copy of this software for a few days now and after a couple of initial problems (partly due to me trying to get it to work on a very old Panasonic Toughbook) and much help from Philip, it's now working perfectly.

I've successfully reset the "Service Due" message, performed the dashboard sweep that checks every warning light and gauge in the speedo binnacle and I can set the date whether or not the Connect Nav is fitted (obviously this one is more useful for people who have removed the Connect Nav).

I was using a Gendan ELM327 v1.3 interface. If I had a PCAN interface, I could also have sent and received messages via the CAN BUS.

My thanks to Philip and everyone else who has contributed to this software.

Dave.

Hello Dave,
with your Gendan ELM327 v1.3 interface it's possible to send and receive can-messages too , you just have to study on the ELM 327 1.3 manual of the ELM chip to understand and be able to use all special features of it.....
