Technical stiff gearchange all gears, no crunching

Hi all, my Punto has a stiff gear change, its in all gears, there's never any crunching in any of the gears though. I've owned it for about a year & its always been stiff & hasn't gotten any worse. Over the next couple of months i'll probably look to sell the car as its served its purpose. I'm trying to get the issues with the car sorted prior to selling it though - the gearchange being the last one - & as its the one thing any future buyer will come into contact with i'd like it to be right!

any ideas on what might be the issue??

suspect a corroded gear cable
its the cable without the square plastic top hat on,look on top of the gearybox for guidance

complete linkage in scrappy should be about £25
just use that cable on yours if cable is the issue
look on the bay too
