Hi,
Anyone found the location of the elusive SGW module?
2020 Ducato,
Currently I’ve all the lower dash removed,
Cannot see anything resembling a module with the two connections of the SGW bypass cable
I dont know if anyone else can help as it seems Rolopolo hasn't been seen for a while. At the start of his thread is a picture if a dimantled glove box/dash. The cable hanging down has obviously been trapped where the front panel screws onto the bracket behind it. Does anybody know what that cable is?

On my UK 2022 Ducato the SGW is mounted behind the glove box on the left hand side of the vehicle. To get access you need to remove the glove box completely and the SGW is bolted to the back of the glove box panel.

linknet, Thank you
I have a 2020 Ducato so hopefully if there is one there at all it will be in the same place. I would really like someone with Multescuan to plug into the OBD port and tell me if there is a SWG before I start removing things or ordering from Gendan. Iv'e been asking around at the Warners shows but no luck so far.
Is your Ducato A Motorhome or PVC?
Another reason for my posting is that on the picture at the start of the thread a cable can be seen hanging down that has been pinched between one of the dashboard fixings and slightly damaged. A cable on my van has suffered the same fate at some time in its previous ownership and although I have released it and all seems well I would rather like to know what the cable is for. Any ideas.

Thanks again for your input.

My 2022 Ducato is a Devon Aztec XL so it's a PVC.

That cable looks like an aftermarket addition and although I don't have anything exactly like that I have one cable from the tracker routed through in that corner into the engine compartment which connects to, and immobilises, the starter solenoid. There's also one on the drivers side through into the engine compartment for the alarm siren.

I have Multiecuscan but live in the South East so a long way from you so can't help there.

Removing the glove compartment once you manage to drop down the front cover is relatively easy, just a number of torx screws, and it pulls off towards you with the SGW, if you have one, attached to the back.

Fortune favours the brave so:- When we get back from the Lincoln show:-

Hi, I have the 2020 Ducato and want to ask if the SGW on my model is located as some have said on the back side of the glove box passenger side? Thank you Dave.

When I contacted Gendan about MultiECUScan and the need for a SWG Module Mike replied that " Being a 2.3 model makes your vehicle an x290 model, not the later x290 MCA (which all use 2.2 litre engines at the moment). We have only encountered SGW modules on the 290 MCA models, so you should be in the clear" but I have yet to try. My 2020 was a July registration so possibly a 2019 chassis

Have you actualy confirmed that your 2020 model has the gateway fitted

Yes im fairly certain it does, my van is reg Oct 2020 and i tried a Topdon AD800BT on it recently and it came back with SGW communication errors, I didnt look any further as my friend who has the Topdon at his garage was just about closing up, I will drop the glovebox down and take a look in the very near future to confirm it. Ive already purchased the bypass cable as I want to install the LED daytime running light headlamps as some others have already done.

So would I as my Ducato 2.3 140 was manufactured in Dec 2020.
I only have a cheap generic code reader from Aldi. Sometimes the yellow Engine Management Light (EML) comes on and it goes in to limp mode. I plug in the code reader, sometimes it gives a code related to the DPF, but usually says 'no codes found' Despite that I set it to erase all codes. Then it says 'erase codes failed' Nevertheless, it must have done something because the EML light goes out and full power is restored. - until next time which can be anything between a few minutes, or about a year!

PS: When it goes in to limp mode it is not noisy or smoking and fuel consumption is showing about 40mpg (better than normal as its not using full power) so it doesn't look like there is much wrong.

Ive just had the passenger side glovebox and surrounding housing out and i cant see the secure gateway module anywhere in that location, puzzled now as to where and if my van actually has it, as said before im fairly sure it does but have yet to find it.

I'm in exactly the same same situation. I took my glovebox out and compared it with the OP's photos and I couldn't find the SGW either.

I have a Ducato 2021 Euro 6D built October 2020. It came with a 75 liter diesel tank. I removed the pipe in the tank and now it is a 90 liter tank.

To make the computer and fuel gauge show correct figures I got help from a friend with MultiEcuScan to change to the correct figure in the Proxy Alignement table. No problems with that.

I have a "simple" bluetooth dongle and use Torque app to show and delete error codes. No problems.

Does this mean that my Ducato and other Ducatos of same age don´t have a Security Gateway?

Thank you for the update. As I understand it MultiEcuScan identifies that the SWG module is there when first connected. Did your Topdon identify the module or did it just respond to clearing the codes with the communication error. Perhaps the Topdon is just not compatible and returning an erroneous message.

To be honest as mentioned before I plugged it in and it recorded SGW errors against every module, I will scan it again with the Topdon next week sometime.

Found this showing the location , no wonder i couldnt find it once you remove the glove box and the large housing you then need to pull the upper housing away from the dash and hey presto. Im gonna have another look tomorrow to confirm its there and i think it looks like there is enough cable to relocate it to a better location for ease of access.
