Hey

Recently added an Android touch screen unit to my wife's 2016 Panda, I also purchased a reversing camera to add to it, not really needed in a panda as the visibility is so good but it's a nice to have thing.

I'm trying to figure out the best place to mount the camera and where to run the cable to the Android unit up front.

Anyone else done this? Where did you run the cable?

Thanks.

Hello @MZtech, I bought a new radio for my 500x and installed it, but I had no camera so, my mechanic told me to buy the camera and he will install it. I can ask him when he does the job, where did he passed the wires.
Can you tell me where did you buy your camera and where you are going to install it? I am looking to buy one and install it on the back plate light.
Tks a lot!

Hi, after a lot of head scratching I got it figured out.

I bought a cheap generic rear view camera from eBay to attach to the Android unit I had put in the wife's car.

Initially I wanted to position it by the number plate but tbh I was feeling too lazy to be drilling holes in the car so I settled for inside the top of the rear window and ran the cable along the door trim.

The camera I had came with the usual useless Chinese instructions so figuring out the wiring was a bit of a mission.
Found a screw in the boot that was suitable as a ground point.
Then spliced the power wire from the camera into the pink wire on the androids unit canbus box.

It was then trial and error going through all the camera modes on the Android unit to find one compatible with the camera, other wise you just get no signal.
All works great now, camera automatically switches on when the car is in reverse.

Hi,
What a great idea! I was a little bit afraid in making holes in the car. I think I will buy the cheapest and try to put it where you said.
One doubt, You putted it inside or outside? I think there is space near the third stop. Is there no problem with the line guides, I mean with the distance that appears on the screen?
Thanks a lot!

Yea it's inside, just below the 3rd brake light, nice thing about mounting it there is there's loads of room to hide the connectors in the roof liner and you can run the cable all the way along so it's not visible at all, you wouldn't even know it's there unless you really looked for it.

We set it up at such an angle that the guide lines work really good, when wherever you are reversing against meets the red line you know you are in the perfect spot.
