There cheap for a reason

They just stick a new tread on it

Okay Lorries and Busses etc use retreads because its cheaper and there never going that fast
But ever noticed the ribs, chunks and entire treads at sides of the road from wagons where its just flew off?

Risky - Tbh i'd rather have budgets put on!

But decent rubber can help prevent and escape an accident!

What size tyres are you looking at? looked online for tyres/ebay?

I dont go to local tyre shops, i buy them online delivered and pay £10 to have them fitted
It works out cheaper to get a decent tyre like Uniroyal / mich etc then most mid range tyres at the tyre shops

i do know that they are cheap for a reason but surely if they were unsafe they would not be sold?
looking for a 225/55/16 and apparently is a uncommon size
i dont like budget tyres and the pirelli p6 that i have now are s**t
there seems to be plenty of winter tyres of that size on ebay
were else i could find cheap new ones online?
thanks

if you think your Pirelli 's are BAD you may have something to learn with the retreads..!!,

remember there are several different options;

Remoulds - complete new rubber - OK - to a point

Retreads - new tread on old carcase - dodgy, = budget option

Regroovable,
the things you get on trucks, AS seen on the side of the road,

best "on-line" buys are the Premium brand tyres getting towards the end of their "shelf-life" ,
still good for up to 36 months - most peoples tyre don't last THAT long on a car,

Scrap yards - local one to me is £10 per tyre on rim

Often you see cars come in with good life tyres still on them
You can simply swap them over! Dosh in your pocket - Treads on your rubber

again tho - take them off a car yourself/ watch them, as again you dont want a massive rear impact cars rear wheels

I don’t know the EU1222/2009 rating for the P6 – but in defence, it is (or was) a preferred tyre for some US police forces & claimed to be as good if not better than whatever Goodyear Eagle version it competed with in their tests.

What are the tyre specs given in your OH? (I've seen 215/55R16 given & 225/55R17).

That's not quite right !,a regroove is a tyre that as the name says has had deeper grooves cut into it,it can be a first life tyre or a remoulded tyre, what you see on the roadside are top caps, cheapest of the cheapest remoulds !
