OK I have taken the passenger side air vent off and now I can see the minute remnants of crumbled foam, so I can see now where it is supposed to go. There was none left whatsoever on the driver's side, but a small piece of bright blue foam fell out from somewhere, but that was obviously some previous owner's attempt at soemthing.
There is a small length of plastic pipe in the air vent area . What is that for? Is it an attempt at water drainage?

It must be extremely hit and miss as to how much (if any) water actually finds its way down a tube that size surely?
Anyway, being pleased with myself for finally figuring out how the roofs work (see separate post), I am still being a bit dense about this air vent . I have turned the plastic bit round from vertical to horizontal, and pulled on it. I have also taken off the corresponding air vent from inside and pushed and pulled from inside but everything seems well "baked" in to position. All I am trying to do is replace the old foam. Which way should I be going? Pulling from the outside or pushing from the inside?
