No need to go to 4,200 rpm, no power or torque there to speak of.

When you uprate the engine performance you shorten the service parameters to accomodate that, 18000 miles is seen by FIAT as OK on the original cars spec, you changed the spec so you need to shorten the service intervals, even if its just a filter and oil change, a good look over the hoses and coolant levels, and a check of the brakes, a short service if you like.

when i had my stilo remapped i use to change the oil/filters, plugs and clean/re-lube my induction kit aswell as checks every 6k.

i also think that part of the reason from reading many threads, especially from the input from the guy that races his GP in oz is when the manifold gets hot warping the turbo like rx7's have that problem! so your 1 or 2 140mph+ stints could have been the killer... and the 2nd just looks unlucky! personally i would get the ecu reset as if you take it back again with a dead turbo they are going to investigate more.

Ok - now I'm worried. I thought they couldn't find the remap as it was done to the existing firmware.

I didn't have a new firmware so to speak. Just a few variables were changed. Can they detect this - I was led to believe otherwise.

I don't think I can afford to pay for a new turbo every 50 miles... besides, how could the dealer know?

It might be a last resort but why not? I'm always in my local fiat garage, as most GP owners are, if the manager of the dealer fancies £500 in his bin then turn a blind eye, or at the very least overwrite the ECU and fix it under warranty.

I was VERY close to getting a remap, with those figures looking soooooo tempting!!

Will be giving the whole idea a miss now thankyou (y)(y)

lol. It's your car if you don't want to then thats fine I kind of agree with you. But not ALL Remapped cars will go bang its all to do with mechanical Sympathy. Drive it like a complete lunatic and it will go bang when standard too.

By the look of beany_bot's sig it doesn't look like the car is being driven with 'mechanical sympathy'!!

Each to their own i suppose but I won't be running the risk.:nutter:

Whats wrong with the sig?

Er I do believe he's launching it round a corner judging by the lean....assuming its not just a stock photo from a road test.

Ahh right...I see :)

Not the GPS's forte corners....I found that out after driving an Abarth.
