Technical Recall Notification

Hi Guys

I replied last night to this matter on a similar thread for 500 so apologies if again!

We own a 2023 TA 4x4 bought new, fully serviced low miles etc, love the 4x4! we have received the recall letter, we are concerned with this as no explanation, reassurance etc. Contacted the dealership where we bought it, said quite shapish bring it in! explained from our records. live a 3 hour plus journey away!! could we take this to local dealership who service the car, said yes and that was it it, no explanation etc, call ended!

Took this to our local really friendly dealership with the CoC and V5 which they said on phone bring in, they have kept the COC. No mention of current mileage.I was thinking they may print a new replacement one out or receive one in the post etc. no just told I will have to go in person it could be weeks to months for this to sorted out????!!

We are concerned, possibly months for Fiat to sort this out??!! It is like a silent matter! future implications could this possibly affect when it needs its first MOT in March? Insurance implications, if wanted to sell the car. the cars value as the 4x4 been good.

The UK vs EU CoC was altered after brexit with new cars (and imports) expected to follow the new rules by 2022
However:
Some vehicle types CoC had their compliances extended to ‘23 and ‘24
Northern Ireland were exempted, so they retain the EU CoC
So, it seems ‘reasonable to assume’ that some vehicles destined for NI came to mainland Britain with the EU CoC.
I posted recently about my trip to Ireland and the differences in levels of kit and paint colours that were not available to us, so it maybe as simple as that, or not

My experience with CoC (not FIAT but VW). CoC is not typically ever required in regular ownership. I purchased a UK registered Left Hand Drive VW Golf 4 (20 years old) for use in Slovakia (and eventual permanent export). The car was originally registered in Italy. To register in Slovakia (read, another country) a CoC was required to prove its specification. As it was 20 years old the certificate was lost/not available. The manufacturers are, I believe, obliged to provide a replacement, but you have to apply to the manufacturer in the country in which it was supplied! Long story, short, VW Italia provided it by return email!

My point is, that a) CoC is most likely not necessary in typical car ownership b) you can get a current version pretty easily (in my experience)

Now if the V5 has misrepresented the CoC then this is a different issue (Euro 5 instead of Euro 6 for example) then that I could see is more relevant but keeping the CoC seems the wrong way round? Maybe I have just misunderstood what is going on?

I had a look at the my wife's V5 and the car's CoC and I can't really see anything that stands out, looks to me that the CoC agrees with the V5 but I think it's a non-issue that will eventually get sorted judging by the two dealers I talked to, basically none of them are interested.

Possibly some subtle change around Brexit on CoC??

A quick search suggests;

• Missing Data:
  Some fields on the COC might be mandatory and errors can occur if they are left blank.
  
  
• Inconsistencies:
  Discrepancies between the COC and other documents or the vehicle itself can lead to issues.

So maybe there are some blanks that shouldn't be?? The common man may never know!
