I saw one the otherday...I assumed he had an electrical fault cos he had what looked like fogs on with no sides or rear lights...
The ones I've drawn a box around, this pic has the fogs on too so i can see i was mistaken but car i saw had no fogs so I assumed they were the fogs, they look awfully exposed in the event of a parking bump.
Those aren't fog lights. Fog lights have to be fitted below a certain height (normally below bumper level) as set out in the Vehicle Construction and Use Act. I've circled the fogs in yellow, whereas the lights you drew a box round look more like sidelights or additional driving lights to me?
stilos fog lights are set in the side of its headlights and there not all that low![]()

Whew, just trawled through this thread.
I've seen a few new cars out & about with LED DRLs as a strip of lights immediately beneath the main lights - and boy do they stand out.
In fact, as I was parked up in the suicide lane of the M25 I thought the same car was going round in circles as half a dozen drove past me whilst I was there - and the LEDs really did make the car stand out from the heaving mass of metal hurtling on the clockwise section.
On the subject of battery voltage, mine reads 13.5 with the engine off and 14.8 with the engine on.
With the engine idling (1.9jtd, 900rpm) and main beam, hazards, fogs, brakes, heated rear window and demister all switched on, the engine laboured slightly as the rpm dropped to 800 and the output dropped from 14.8 to 13.5.
I guess at this point, the system was balancing between keeping the engine ticking over & running all the electrics.
I'd love to know just how much of an impact sidelights have on fuel economy though. Seems to me there is a load of wasted power when the engine is idling and 4 x 5w power drain would hardly scratch the surface.
When I take the Scouts camping we use a generator to power a few lights etc as darkness falls.
We have 10 x 20w lamps in our kitchen tent, a 500w halogen to light the main area and a 4g trailling socket to charge mobiles, camcorders etc. (and summer evenings we generally run a couple of bug zappers in the kitchen tent)
This is generally running 6 hours per night & a gallon of fuel lasts most of the summer.
The generator has 2 x 13a sockets rated at 240v though we've never tried it to its max (3kw per socket?)
No electrical fault. That was just a Chav driving around with foggies on because they think they 'look cool' even though it's not foggy and visibility isn't reduced.

I would rather have auto wipers/lights fitted as standard to all new cars TBH.
I've only ever had a LED fail because I put to much juice through it and it fecked it.
Only problem I have just had is that my LED sidelight bulb (ebay buy) has started to play up. Has started flickering. Good I removed it because police might have done me for imitating an emergeny vehicle. Is a white LED, but you know what they're like. Now just to decide whether to replace to standard sidelight bulbs or put LED's back in.
I think it's beacause they get too hot being too close to the headlamps, I have had loads go that way![]()
