It’s a PHEV, with the Fiat 1.3 turbo unit and an electric motor for RWD to make it 4WD, so far it’s brilliant. It’s not as fast as the 2.0 diesel turbo at 122mph, not that we’ll do anything like that, but it gets there faster, 7.2secs 0-62, pick up is really impressive.
One thing I’ve noted before, on here, is the comparison between our old Trailhawk and the 2.0 500X is the cornering. The Renegade felt heavy on the front end and, being taller in height and suspension, you could feel it, this front end lighter 1.3 petrol, and rear electric motor and battery has really changed the dynamics, in a good way.
I’m going to keep an eye on front tyres, as the older heavy diesel engine contributed to early onset tyre scrub, with, admittedly my enthusiastic cornering not reserved for my Panda Cross’s
