Technical Project Bucket.

She's between employers at the moment so she's charging her own fee, you'll have to ask her ;) (If you could just leave the money in the door pocket that'd be great )
hi,i will have to ask vernon to pay charmania and then add it to my bill. many thanks for letting her be the model,i am sure she will get another job soon.

Tried some more positions today ( for the badge!)

Let's not forget that bucket is black so the hinge cover and oval grommet in the last pic won't be as obvious.
hi vern, thanks for the info about the pillars.i seem to have opened up another can of worms , at this rate the badges will end up inside the bucket (only joking). looks good on c pillar but then also looks good higher up near the door (is that the b pillar ?). but then also like the idea of above the lock at the back. is bucket a mk2 ? not sure why i asked that i just like to know these things i suppose. await further pics.

The madness really doesn't take long to take hold in this section does it?!! ;)

Outwardly sane upstanding citizens suddenly see a Panda and go :spin:Ahhhh

Hi Julie,

First off, Bucket is a Mk2 yes, and the pillar above the door hinge is the 'A' pillar. (y)

Here's a couple more pics to help you decide..........

The badge is quite thick and stands proud of the bodywork by about 4mm, so although it looks fine on the 'C' pillar head on it does spoil the smooth lines a little when looking from the side.

Not so bad with the other two options as it's not right in front of your eyes.

You do have a little time to think about it fortunately as I only have the whole of the restoration to finish before I fit them. :p

thanks for pics.....i did wonder about how thick the badge is.......above lock on the back i think is my preference.....like it on c pillar but agree that the sticking outiness of it spoils the smoothness. right so just one badge needed...anyone else want the other one?

please remember to give bucket an anaesthetic before you start to dismember him. serious question do i need to keep the insurance going whilst all the restoration is in progress?

I can't make myself like it in any position personally. I don't think it fits with the square styling of a Panda, but each to their own, only my opinion.
it is sort of squareish....i promise no other tat will be on buckets exterior....can't say the same for the interior though...some cuddly pandas are bound to find their way inside.

Vern.
I have an idea (don't all laugh at once)
If fitted on the rear quarter panel and were recessed into the bodywork they would look fabulous.
It would set your work apart from us bodgers and stickers and make them look a factory fit.

I'm glad you chose the tailgate, it was my preferred option too. (y)
Maybe if you have no takers you can put the other one on your fridge.

Phew, well that's the hard part done. ;)

yes i can always find a home for the other badge if no one else wants just one. how about the insurance question though.....i just thought that whilst bucket is undergoing major surgery there isn't really much to insure....await your advice on this one.

i really like this idea but it would mean further surgery....unless of course the badge can be sliced through depth wise so its thinner. think best to stick to tailgate otherwise vern might refuse to do the restoration for me,then i would be stuck as i can't do the technical stuff at all....or welding or anything else useful really...but i am learning more about proper engines and their bodywork as i go along....who knows one day i might even be able to post a sensible comment. julie

Frenched in badges eh, yeah I like that idea. This would work well wherever they were placed so up to you Julie, but I'm happy to do the work (y)

Will give you a call ref. the insurance.

I love the idea of this! I think it would make a massive difference to the overall finsh to have the badges recessed (frenched) into the bodywork, and would be worth the extra work involved (y)
