 I am a newbie to this forum and was just looking for some help. Have a problem with multipla after very cold nights -5 or so. Sluggish, no power, driving as if handbrake on etc. Then when warms up car is fine. When this happened before garrage could not find problem. Since then I found a link to common faults on multipla and this was one listed. However cannot find this link now. Any help with this problem would be great.

Many thanks.

Yes, it seems that the handbrake must have been frozen on, it happened to me this morning -4 degees, this can be confimed when you release the handbrake it feels like there's nothing there, (no resistence).

hi guys sameproblem here, had to drive the kids to school this morning and the car would hardly move when i got to school the brake disc disc that i could see through the alloys was red hot,ive been told that i already have a hand brake cable that is in poor condition when i had the car motd in july but didnt get around to having it replaced,i now have it booked in for next tuesday,a temporary fix is to not put the handbrake on when the car is parked, just leave it in gear.this is what i was told by the garage, ill post again tomorrow to let you know if it works, and hopefully when the garage has fitted the new brake cable it will be a long term fix,ill let you know

Guys, you could always make the little plate that covers the cable under the car and stops the water getting in. You can find the details on the Multipla owners website. I made it and fitted it in about 10 mins and so far have not had any problems this year. It also passed an MOT inspection with it fitted so no problems there too!

Cheers,
Tom.
