Technical Rear wiper grommet - lip in or out?

Hi all

I've fitted a new grommet for the rear wiper spindle but am not sure which way the lip goes - facing out or folded back in?

Facing out doesn't look quite right but the outer part does sit fairly flush with the glass. Folded back in looks better but then the outer part doesn't sit flush with the glass and has a definite gap.

The old one was so knackered it was impossible to use as reference.

Any ideas??

Thank you, the drawing does look more like in than out - maybe the outer part will settle over time and sit back flush. I'll try that.
