Here's a pic of the 4x4 camshaft end.:)
The lobe is definitely offset to drive the fuel pump.......

that's what i'm talking about :)... it's damn hard to see even on that pic... the shadow makes it ambiguous. still excellent news... happy testing graham... don't crash the car just yet.

Here's a better pic - no flash to offset the look of the thing with an optical illusion...... so it's definitely offset

Gaz - you need to post a better picture - a close up if possible with no flash:cool:
Has that 75 camshaft got an offset lobe?????

btw - I only got the camshaft - nothing else with it but it looks in excellent and unworn condition - no scoring or anything - obviously from a 4x4 that rusted away before the engine got up to 5k miles!

that camshaft of gazs aint a 75, its a c&b 280 camshaft.. you wouldnt want that in a panda, as i keep seeing on here they're not performence cars and that be a fast road / race camshaft.

i'm pulling my cinq to bits in a few weeks, it has a 75 cam - i'll hav a look at that (unless someone else has found out before then!)

I will have to wait until my parents get back from hols with the camera.

Mine still looks round when I been playing with it

I wonder what would happen if I put a 280 on the panda :chin:

And does anyone have a standard 999 FIRE cam to compare to the 4x4 one?
A micrometer would be handy!

are you currently un-employed or something? find somethign more constructive to do with your time than comparing cam shafts...

i'll post a foto later

Lol! no! But I am a very sad Panda anorak! :)

No point changing it if it's the same!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, the Panda 4x4 camshaft will have the eccentric lobe to drive the fuel pump because early 4x4's were available with carburetors. That camshaft gives an extra 5bhp.

The 280 camshaft has the lobe in the right place, but we're not sure if it is 'eccentric' so as to be able to operate the fuel pump pushrod. We await better pictures from Gaz! Arc reckons it's not suitable for a road car, but if you want a seriously hot Panda I don't see why it can't be fitted!

Now we need to see Arc's Punto 75 camshaft to determine whether it has the lobe and whether it is eccentric. If it does and is, then it is the camshaft to get for lower powered FIRE engines running a carburetor (y) I can see half of the Panda section cannibalising every Punto 75 engine in scrapyards in the quest for the hotter cam

Gaz and Arc, pics and details please to finally confirm the situation!
